All the little things around

This was a completely unknown part of the forest for me. A curiosity to check if there were any mushrooms there won, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping. The place was still pretty nice but very wild with thick, tall grasses and bushes. Hard to walk around and look for small mushrooms hiding somewhere.

Instead I looked for some details to shoot - there is always plenty of there. I tend to just stay in one spot and look around. It is easier to spot the tiny flowers and single plants than when you move around and watch where you step instead.

A few last little Dianthus flowers were poking from the grass. The bright pink was easy to spot among green and yellow.

And something that looks like Sedum flowers.

Of course Lichens. They are everywhere and in all kinds of colours. The ones below were covering a large boulder on the side of the path. I can only imagine how crispy and dry they get during the hot summer. Nothing to protect them there and no water to drink.

Don't mind me, little guy. Keep eating :)

Euphorbia that looks like a pine seedling.

And some acorns that were crunching with every step.

They will be a good food source for animals during the winter.

And this is the producer of the acorns... or rather a part of it. It was a giant, old oak tree and the bottom of it was so beautifully covered in moss. Why shoot the whole tree if I can just shoot the moss, right? 🙃

And a bit more of it... with a mushroom as a bonus.

And yes, it was fall last year :) Very fitting time to show some of that when we are close to spring :p

So typical of me.

Lastly, here is a proof of mushroom. I managed to pick a few more later on, but nothing spectacular.

That old oak tree is amazing with green moss as an overcoat. I didn’t know these acorns could be edible for animals in winter. The forest is plentiful for all animals big and small.
