Tool or Threat? My Real Thoughts on AI

To be honest, I didn’t really care much about AI before. I just saw it as one of those tech people used, but these days, it’s everywhere. People are using it frequently either by creating pictures, writing emails even our auto-correct is part of AI, we may not know or not really recognize it but AI has now become part of our daily activities.

I won’t lie AI is gradually taking over humans effort in this present generation, people tends to relax and allow AI to do the work, we do not really know what to believe again because most AI is taking over everything, there is practically nothing AI can not do again, AI is now communicating like a normal person now, chatting with us and giving people a great idea about businesses, schools and the likes.

So do I use AI? Yes, but not in any special way. To me I see AI as something that can push you up when you are stuck with ideas, most times I use AI to research and get more information about something not depend on it, AI is a tool that can help us when we are stuck and it is used for getting ideas not a tool to represent your brain totally.

I’ve also seen people using AI for editing photos, creating designs, even generating voices and videos. I won’t lie, it’s impressive. It is so helpful in it own way and I can not lie people are using AI to generate more content and making money in this present generation.

But do I trust it fully? No. In as much I see some good developments through AI, I can never depend fully on it. I don’t like the idea of depending on a machine for everything. Some people now act like AI is their brain. They don’t try to think first they just run to it for every single thing. If you can’t even write a simple message without AI, then what happens when it’s not available? What happens to your own sense of thinking?

Also, I’ve seen how people are misusing it. Some students just copy full assignments from AI and submit it like that. No effort. No personal touch. Just pure copy and paste. Students are becoming lazy, people can no longer read two pages of book without the help of AI, this part is getting me scared because our educational system will be chaos and students will no longer be able to defend their certificate anymore.

Another thing that bothers me is jobs. Some people have already lost their jobs because companies are using machines and AI tools instead. It’s cheaper and faster for them. But what about the people? How are they supposed to survive? It’s not everyone that can switch to tech. And not everyone wants to.

I’m not saying AI is all bad. It has helped people in different ways. It saves time, gives ideas, makes some things easier, but we need to be careful about the way we use it, we might lose ourselves in the process and stop thinking, stop creating, stop learning. Everything will just become “ask AI.”

And I don’t want that. I want to put my brain into action, I want to think and make mistakes, I can correct myself if I make a mistake but AI is so perfect that can not make mistakes, I want to learn from my mistakes because that’s what makes us human. AI doesn’t feel anything. It doesn’t know how it feels to cry over something you worked hard on. It doesn’t know joy or pain or fear. It just gives you results.

So for me, AI is both a tool and a possible threat. It’s useful, yes. It depends on how we use it, it can be useful and also be a threat, it has the power to damage and render human useless because when you stop thinking as human then you are a finished person, we should learn how to use it for our benefit and not to replace it with your brain. Let it remain what it is a tool. Not our brain. Not our heart. Just a tool.
