THE SACRIFICE WE MAKE FOR HARMONY

The sacrifice we make can go a long way for someone incapable of paying us back, I had sacrificed so many things in the past which had affected me negatively but I had to summon courage just to put a smile on someone's face.

This happened some years back when I was working in a company before going for my national youth service, this company produces table water and mini juice, I met this lovely lady from where I was working, she was my colleague and she was always there for me and we loved each other so much because she has a hustling spirit and that is one of the reasons why I love her, she is someone that really cares about me but she had so many responsibilities to shoulder at that period.

She lost her father and she is the first child of the family, her mother was sick and she had to pay her younger sister's school fees with their house rent as well, there was a day that she came to work and she mistakenly spoiled one of the sealing machines, I wasn't at work that day and she was so panicking and she immediately call me, I told her to calm down and we are going to solve the situation.

The next day when I came to the company, the manager called her and she was fidgeting, immediately I told the manager that I was the one that spoiled the machine and I was ready to pay for the repair, I know the manager was Mr no-nonsense and to save my friend from the unnecessary talk, my friend looked at me and shouted No, I told the manager that he should deduct the money from my salary, I did this for her because I know what she is going through and I can never allow her to go through another hard time again.

I sacrificed for her just to make her happy, I worked for a good two months without salaries because my salary was used to repair the machine, that is the one problem when you are working with private companies, I had no choice because how would she survive if they didn't pay her for two months, what about her sick mother, how would the siblings go to school, I thought of all these before pushing myself for it.

Though I went through hell because I worked for two months without salary, I did this because our manager was a very wicked man and he always referred to things, he didn't have a forgiving spirit, and he would always emphasize on that particular issue for months without resolving it, I did this for my friend and also for peace to reign at the company, I hate someone who doesn't have forgiven spirit and can never let something slide.

The issue was resolved since I had sacrificed my salary to pay for the damage, my friend feels indebted to me, she always texts me every morning saying sorry to me but I did it out of love, though I regretted it for days because it wasn't easy at all, my friend offers me some of her salaries after the month end but I rejected it because I have siblings who have been sending me money for my upkeep every month, I tried to gather money to buy my kits for NYSC that was what pushed me to that company.

I would love to help the helpless no matter what the situation may be, how would I see someone I cared for struggling so much like that, I was glad that I could render such help for her and it was one of the best decisions I made to help my friend, we met in that company not that we know each other from somewhere before, we clicked so easily, people thought we are friends before we joined the company.
