The Bad Habit That's Holding Me Back And How I Plan to Overcome It.
What's one habit you want to break
One bad habit that I have been trying to get rid of is PROCRASTINATION, procrastination is a waste of time, I've realized that procrastination has been holding me back from achieving my goals and living up to my full potential, I have always been missing my target and deadlines due to this bad habit, I have lost different opportunities because of this habit.
Most times I do not take things so seriously because I believe that if I do not achieve the target today then I will achieve it tomorrow, I have been taking things with levity hands all in the name of procrastination, things that I ought to have achieved is now way far above me because of this bad habit of mine.
Procrastination is a thief of time, it makes someone feel lazy and nonchalant about one's life, even this prompt that I am writing now I ought to have done that yesterday but due to my busy schedule and complaint I moved it to today and it wasn't supposed to be so because I have a target that I must complete this 30- days writing challenge.
There was a time when my former boss called me to come to her house, and I was procrastinating the move, I didn't know she was relocating out of the country and wanted me to have some of her kitchen stuff with some nice designer wear, I didn't go on time, I always set time and day that I will go not until when she called me that she had leave the country and explained why she wanted to see me, had it been I didn't procrastinate I would have been enjoying most of her kitchen utensils now because she ordered most of it from china.
I felt the pain and as bitter in my soul, I wished I had left everything I was doing that period just to honor her call but my bad habit wouldn't let me.
Strategies to break this bad habit
MY FIRST STRATEGY IS TO BREAK MY TASKS INTO SMALLER STEPS:- Divide large tasks into smaller ones, making it easier to focus and make progress, by doing this then I can focus only on the task I want to do, and this will also help me to manage my time and also have time for other things around.
MY SECOND STRATEGY IS TO SET CLEAR GOALS AND DEADLINES:- This is what I call discipline, if I can discipline myself and set attainable goals and attach deadlines with them then I can overcome procrastination, this will help me focus on achieving my target.
THIS BRINGS ME TO MY THIRD STRATEGY WHICH IS REMOVE DISTRACTIONS:- I will always turn off all notifications, and then log out of social media, this can bring lots of distraction and most of us are victims of this, anytime I hear my phone beep I would always leave anything I am doing at that moment and respond to the notification, this always causes distraction because I will never go back to that thing I am doing unless if it is very important, most times I can just receive a phone call from friends or relative then I will be carried away but get rid of my notification will be the best strategy to run away from procrastination.
MY NEXT STRATEGY IS TO CREATE ACCOUNTABILITY: Having a mentor who will always push me to do more and never relent will help me get rid of this bad habit, there was a time I worked with my friend on hive @wallay he always encouraged me and we set a target for ourselves every week, we created time table for our post and this helped me a lot because I do not believe I can go this far on hive. Having someone who can push you and bring out the best in you is another good way to overcome procrastination.
By implementing these strategies, I'm confident I can overcome procrastination and develop healthier habits to achieve my goals.
This is my response to day 4 of the 30-day challenge anchored by @treasuree.

Setting clear goals with deadline is actually a good thing. People set goals and forget to add deadline which is kind of funny to me
