Surviving in a country without maximum security

We live in a world where everyone is protected by God not security, if we are talking about security in my country then we will all be dead by now, I live in a country where night guards are more efficient and effective than police and the rest, where police will hear the sound of gunshots and run for their lives without considering the citizen or wish to know what is going on.

The level of security depends on how influential you are in the country, not that the security is poor, the politicians are getting maximum protection from the government by securing their properties and homes but neglect the citizens.

I live in a country where you will have to be on guard 24/7, if you are dull that is at your own risk, nobody owes you any explanation for losing your life, God gives maximum protection to weak-hearted people.

Talking about security is just like dancing on a life wire, the citizens are not secure in their country, and people are scared to travel by road in other not to get kidnapped by the kidnappers who are operating day and night and killing people like chicken you are did not meet up with their demands.

Some months ago some graduates were posted for their national youth service and on their way going their buses were attacked by unknown gunmen and they were kidnapped, one of my neighbors was among them and they demanded the sum of #2.5million naira, it was like a movie to us that night when the mother was trying to call the lady to know if she reaches the NYSC camp safely but her phone was switched off.

The next day the parents got a call from a restricted number calling them about their daughter's kidnap and demanded ransom, the mother cried her life out that day because in this economy how can some gather such an amount, everyone continued to contribute the little they have.

The next day they called to tell them where to drop the money off because they were the only ones who could call, the number was restricted and there was no how anyone could get through to them, those kidnappers said they should drop the money at one checking point in the city they should give it to any policeman they see at the checkpoint and write the name of their victim in a paper so they they could release the person, we were shocked to hear that, we were all contemplating wetter those policemen knows about it or they will all have their shares in the ransom, that is how poor the security level is in my country.

I couldn't believe my ears when they told me, is it that we are no longer safe as a citizens? Or things are getting worse for the poor people, because if it should be a politician, all the security agencies will be on the lookout for such a person, we are not the security ourselves.

They fulfilled their promise by releasing the lady after they got the money, she then explained to is when she came back that the experience was terrible, they were moving them from one spot to another, no permanent place for them to stay in other not to track them, should we call this a security, our security men at the checkpoint are there to collect the money you have labor, students can no longer use an iPhone they will tag them as yahoo boys, no more laptops while traveling because you will have to explain and open the laptop to show them proof.

I know our government can do better than this but they are not bothered about our well-being, so everyone has to fight for their existence, if you die is just a matter of six feet and everyone will move on, we need to learn how to protect ourselves and never wait for the government to do so.

I heard of a king who disappeared when all these gunmen attacked him on his way from a meeting to his house, some months ago, the man is a king and very powerful with native stuff, he had sighted them afar and told his driver to stop, they were shooting him but the bullet did not penetrate, he made some incantation and he disappeared with his driver on that spot, at least if you didn't have God you will have other ones, the man was saved with his driver and landed in his house, I can never blame such man for during that, the news was everyone in my city at that time.

Learn how to be powerful both spiritually and physically, God is the only one who can protect us which is 100% guaranteed.

This is my entry for day 23 of the #juneinleo prompt of the #inleo initiative, If you'd love to participate, you can read about it in the announcement post

She was released but what of others whose families couldn't afford that huge some of money, one problem with them was that no negotiation. It is well in this country

This is heartbreaking. And to think that the current government is responsible for letting these criminals take over. Boko Haram and the rest came to power thanks to an idiot that shall not be named (but we all know who it is) and then we have these bandits in Kaduna making life unbearable and then the incompetent security all around us. Yes yes. I despise the Nigerian Police.

Nigerian police are the worst compared to other countries, they can be easily influenced by kidnappers, or should I say they are working together, everyone has to open their eyes when sleeping

Police that was telling some people I know that a certain road is off limits and even they don’t go there. Is it not madness?

It is sadden how bandit have gradually taken over our dear country and the security agencies are not ready to tackle the meniac, couples with some locals aiding and harboring the bandits.

Thank goodness the lady was released alive.

those kidnappers said they should drop the money at one checking point in the city they should give it to any policeman they see at the checkpoint

I know some security agencies work with these hoodlums but this one is indeed a shock. God is the only security we have in this society, no one else.

Thank goodness she was released. I've heard of so many cases where even after paying for ransom, they would still end up killing the person

It's so sad how one can't travel freely or even move around, I hope for a change soon

I guess those police officers at the checkpoint knew about it too and would share the money together. I wouldn't be surprised because some of them have ganged up with these kidnappers and we aren't safe with them. The elite are enjoying maximum security, neglecting the citizens protection and security. At this point, it is only God who keeps one safe and also, we should be alert too and stay careful. #dreemerforlife

This is so heartbreaking. Those who we expect to protect us are the ones working with kidnappers.

I am glad that Lady was released. I have a neighbor whose family wasn't that lucky in the hands of the kidnappers.

I hope things change for better.

This is so very scary. I have lived with this fear myself. I pray that you will one day secure a government that cares about its people. How do you navigate these risks and mitigate against them?
