Is Reincarnation More Than Just a Story?
Many times, I have heard people say that someone who died has come back in the body of another person. At first, I used to laugh at it. I thought it was just people trying to feel better after losing a loved one. But as I grew older, I started to hear more and more stories that made me stop and think.
I remember what happened in my own family. My grandmother died many years ago, and it was a painful time for us all. She was very close to my uncle, her first son. About two years after her death, his wife gave birth to a baby girl. As the child grew, she started doing strange things. She would sit the way my grandmother used to sit, rest her hands the same way, and even talk like her. The shocker came when she called my uncle “my son” one evening. She was just five years old. We all went silent. My uncle's wife started crying. She believed that her mother-in-law had come back through the little girl. My uncle didn’t argue. He just said quietly, “That’s Mama.” Since then, everyone in the family has treated the child with special care. Even though some people don’t believe, deep down we all wonder what if it’s true?
I started asking myself "Could reincarnation be real"? Some churches in Nigeria strongly say no. They say once a person dies, their spirit goes either to rest or to be judged. They teach that it is either heaven or hell, nothing like coming back again. But then again, not everyone agrees with that. Some traditional beliefs say that a person can return, especially if they have unfinished business or are very close to a family member.
Even among Christians, I’ve seen people who believe in it, especially when strange things happen. Some people say their babies were born with marks exactly like a dead relative’s. Others say the child behaves exactly like someone who passed on years ago. One woman even said her son fears fire so much and keeps saying he was burnt before. How can a small child say such a thing?
I won’t lie, some of these stories sound funny at first. But when you look closer, they start to feel real. You begin to ask yourself, “How can this child know all this?” I once watched a video of a small boy in another country who said he was a pilot in a past life and gave details about a war that happened long ago. Everything he said matched with a real story. He was just five years old.
Is reincarnation possible?
I don’t know if I fully believe in reincarnation, but I don’t rule it out either. I like to keep an open mind. There are many things about life that we still don’t understand. Why do we dream? Why do some people feel like they’ve lived before? Why do we sometimes meet strangers who feel so familiar? These are questions that science and religion still try to explain.
I also think people believe in reincarnation because it brings them comfort. Losing someone is not easy. It can feel like a part of you has gone. So when someone thinks their loved one has come back in another form, it gives them hope and strength. It helps them deal with their grief, it also helps someone heal, who am I to judge?
As for me, I don’t have all the answers, and maybe I never will. But I believe that life doesn’t end at death. I believe there is more after this world, even if we don’t understand it fully. Whether we come back or go somewhere else, I believe our spirits continue somehow. I may not have proof, but I’ve seen too many strange things to just say “no” with confidence.
One thing I’ve learned is this, whether reincarnation is real or not, we should live well. If we come back, let it be that we left behind good memories. If we don’t come back, let our lives still speak for us. Let people remember us with smiles and not tears.

Reincarnation, one of the skeptical topics I have been dealing with. Just like you, I have heard lots of strange things about reincarnation and it makes me not to rule it out completely, because it might just be true... whatever, we should just live of good character
I agree with you, there is or not (although I believe that if it is real), we must live, take care of the now. Although I promise that if I die before you, I will return to let you know if there is a more there and if there is an incarnation for you to know? . I will try not to scare you or see you when you are bathing! 😂
It's interesting how stories of reincarnation can make us reflect. The most important thing is to live well, leaving good memories, whether here or elsewhere.
To me it channels down to believe. We don’t know what’s in the afterlife or how it looks like. We can just assume what it’s like over there. But personally I don’t believe there is any existence like reincarnation
