Not Changing the Past, But Living Today

Honestly I always wonder if it is possible to correct all our past mistakes, the correct our wrongs and move on with the present life, I'm not talking about the world generally or past events that had happened in the past but just to correct my own wrongs.

The truth is, I have made lots of mistakes in the past, and some of them still sit quietly in my heart. I think of the hours, the days, even the years I spent chasing things that did not last, time that had wasted, the way I spent extravagantly without thinking of the future, the energy I put in learning different skills but later not settled for anyone, anytime I looked back and reminiscing on my past all I see is unfinished journeys everywhere. If time travel were possible, maybe I would return and tell my younger self to be more focused, to hold on to one thing and see it through.

But then I need to ask myself if that would really change me? Mistakes are bound to happen and they are very painful, yes, but they also reveal something. Maybe all those abandoned skills were not really wasted. Maybe they were small steps that built me into who I am now. The lessons I learned while struggling, even if I didn’t finish, still left something inside me. I know I gained one or two things from most skills, one taught me how to be patience while one taught me discipline, and another one taught me courage to start again. Without those trials, I might never have discovered my strength.

Still, it is hard not to feel regret. Sometimes I imagine how far I would have gone if I had chosen one path and remained on it. I might have been an expert by now. I might have been known for that skill, or even built a career out of it. Instead, I am still searching, still learning, still trying. That thought can be heavy.

If time travel existed, maybe I would fix it. I would go back and whisper to myself, “Do not waste this chance. Stay where you are. Don’t keep starting over.” Maybe my life today would look completely different. But then I wonder would that mean I would never know the value of second chances?

The problem with correcting the past is that we may lose the lessons hidden in those mistakes. Life is not only about arriving quickly, it is also about the road we take and most times we can encounter some obstacles on our journey to success, the road isn't always smooth even the wasted years give us wisdom that smooth paths cannot provide.

Time travel will always sound like a sweet dream, especially when regrets press heavily on our minds. But maybe the real strength is not in going back to correct yesterday, but in moving forward with the lessons it gave us. The skills I abandoned may not have made me an expert, but they taught me endurance. The time I wasted may not come back, but it reminds me today to use my hours wisely.

So when I think of time and again, I no longer imagine going back to change my past. Instead, I see it as a reminder. I cannot rewrite yesterday, but I can write today carefully.

Yeah, you shouldn't feel bad about learning a lot things and not having a niche yet. What I've come to understand is that no knowledge is lost, learning and starting over isn't totally bad, you have built resilience, discipline and also versatility in various fields. Glad you're keen on moving forward and not dwelling on past mistakes. Good Post !

Buena reflexión, es sabio aprender de los errores en lugar de soñar con hipotéticos futuros.

Is okay to make mistakes but we should not dwell in the past rather we should learn from our mistakes.

We cannot change the past, but we can make our lives better and more beautiful by not repeating our mistakes in the future.
