Meeting up the standards of Work ethics.

Hello everyone, good evening and welcome to my blog. Happy weekend guys. Thanks to @hive.ghana for this weeks prompts. Work ethics are therefore the basic beliefs or standard that define proper behavior or conduct in the context of work places. They are such aspects as being punctual, responsible, honest, professional, among others. Believing that good work ethic is crucial many people still do not embrace it. From the cases I’ve observed, one is bound to come across some employees who lack proper working ethic, an aspect that tends to affect their performance and the working environment as well.

It is really tiresome and demoralising to be working with people who have low standards of work. These employees may often come to work late, take too many bathroom or smoke breaks or spend most of the time while at work doing other things apart from work. They may also lack responsibility, always lateness or do not produce work to the expected quality level.

The outcome of such behaviour is severe. The first impact is that it results in reduced productivity of all the people in the team. Sometimes some of the teams members neglect their duties or do not deliver their work at the required time, a burden is then laid on other colleagues who have to do the extra work. It also leads to the overload of work and most importantly it has negative impact on the productivity and efficiency of the employees.

In addition, it contributes to the degradation of the working environment and demoralization of the team members through employee with low work ethic. Absent minded behavior and work ethics, they bring a bad attitude towards the project and work environment leading to jealousy and annoyance among the rest of the group members.

As a teacher, I have seen teachers with very low work ethics. Its so disturbing, for example a teacher coming to school bc when lessons would have started. It's so disheartening and it's been noticed that a lot of students started coming very late to school and tell their friends that afterall the teachers comelate too. Some refuse yo always update their lesson notes while some skip work some days without valid excuses and it becomes so alarming.

For myself, I have always tried to uphold good work ethics at the workplace, though sometimes I managed to develop some bad work ethics though. To counter this I had to take certain measures in order to alter the behaviour and that would help in increasing productivity. Firstly, I defined objectives and directly concentrated on the activities to be performed.That way, I was able to work hard and meet deadlines set for completion of specific tasks in my line of profession.

To anyone struggling to find themselves with such people in the workplace, especially in teaching, then there are few tips to follow: First one involve showing good work ethic yourself, there is nothing as good as setting standards for rest to follow. Develop a culture where everyone talks for and about everyone else while giving constructive criticism so everyone develops the positive perspective of seeing how their actions affect the group and individual’s efficiency.
