Victimization and Mental Health
Victimization is a distressing reality for many individuals, the problem is that it's has many forms and sometime people may not know, there are things people do to their fellow human and the impact can be so so traumatizing, things like bullying a child, this is very common in public schools and body shaming, I recently watched a show which is tags love hunt, people are supposed to go search for love their and find a perfect match for themselves but that was the opposite, you see how people talk down on people sharp, outfit and so on and i was like this can make someone lose his/her self esteem, imagine calling someone fat as pig that can go long way to affect the mental health of victims.
Domestic abuse, this is very disheartening to be frank, when you get hurt from the very people you call family and those you have an intimate relationship with, in my first year in college I was living in a general compound and there was this lady selling food stuff, she had a boyfriend and they had some misunderstanding that led into a fight, the guy beat the hell out of her, drag her hair till the new braided hair pull off, she was at the point of dying when my landlord came for her rescue, she was quickly rushed to the hospital thank God she survived, today she is alive. When she regained her sanity she told me she will never love a man again. Hmmm that was a sad decision to take but that was what victimization pushed her to do, she lost trust for men and the impact of the toxic relationship she had made she lost herself and has decided never to love or trust again. This is what domestic abuse can do, some may not be in the case of fight but emotional abuse too can make someone lose self-esteem. I can still remember some years back in my country we lost a power and popular female gospel artist, what lead to her death was domestic abuse from the husband, the entire nation mourn for her, the husband was taken to the court but the sad thing is that she is no longer in the land of the living.
Another one is cyberbullying, one of the common ways people use to victimize people now is the Internet. In my country there is this common trend that you can just see yourself posted online by someone you may know or not just to embarrass you. When I started my first year in school, as a new student if you are seen eating much you may see yourself in the WhatsApp group chat or just putting on clothes that may not be that good or hair they will video and drop in the school group and everyone will laugh at you. I know of a girl who had one wig and usually wears it to school everyday, someone took pictures of her in different places and days with the same wig and posted in the school group, it was an object of mockery, I felt so bad for her because people automatically forgot her name and was always referred to as the one wig girl, I can imagine the shame and trauma she went through, nobody wanted to associates with her ans and this made this girl to start feel less of herself and shy. She no longer speaks in public or even stands up to ask questions.
Ways to solve the issues of victimization
Education
The very first thing to do is to educate people. Some people do things out of ignorance, programs should be organized to teach people the need to support victims effectively and reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues.
Therapeutic Interventions
Some people just need to talk to a therapist and get some professional counseling. At this point some may cry and let out the hurt in their insides. This maybe a very helpful means to get the victims out of their trauma.
Building Strong Support Networks
Family and friends play a crucial role in our life, sometimes the things we go through are only our family and friends that can comfort us. A strong support network can provide emotional comfort, practical assistance, and encouragement to seek professional help
Lastly I will say that addressing the mental health of people who have been victimized in one way or the other will not only help them recover but also build a more compassionate and resilient society where individuals can thrive despite the challenges they have faced.

Hello @etorobong ✨
Perhaps, being a victim in the family environment is especially sad, because that is where we are supposed to find love and security, but when this is not there, it is very heartbreaking. We long for the moment when all these things disappear.
