Talent Alone Is Not Enough

Talent is often seen as the ultimate measure of success in a variety of fields. This includes sports, music, business etc. But does this mean that talent alone can help one get to the top? Hence, talent cannot be equated with success as success has other ingredients spanning from talent. That is why most people do not regard a talent displayed in a non-effort as a virtue that would create a splendid character.

First of all, let it be stated that it can be perfectly and categorically questioned whether the talent, as the factor, can indeed be considered fully reliable. Therefore, it is talent, endowment; a bliss which distinguishes the people from all other numerous lots. Talent, however, does not equal success; I think I have to remind anyone who is heading a business about this. That is why it is also possible to indicate such values as desire, work, and subordination in the selected sphere in order to achieve the goal. However, in case the mentioned qualities are missing, talent can be effectively neglected and eliminated at a fast pace.

For instance, it is possible define the sphere of sports. In this case, most of the athletes are always born with certain genes that will enable them experience speed, strength and among others. But all the above said talent will not take oneself very far if she/he has no dedication to enhance the training and does not want to improve himself/herself to the optimum and prepared to take the pressure. The same could be said of being a Musician, an artist or an entrepreneur. First of all, it is necessary to introduce two factors that fulfill the function of the first fundamental, which is talent. It is described as the key to success; however, it only fills in half of that picture.

Another critical factor worth pointing out is that talent, as defined in the context of this discourse, is often ignored or underestimated by other people. Just being talented is not enough, one must also need to be in a position to sell the talent and convince others. This has the need to possess skills of communication, self confidence, and self marketing. If these qualities are missing talent will not be noticed and valued in that organization. Although, in this context, one must understand that in order to be successful, one has to be capable of marketing one’s ability to others including employers and customers or fans.

In the end, talent is only one component that works in overseeing the achievement of great heights. Indeed, it is a useful thing to have, but it is not the universal panacea. The talent has to be developed, refined, and entity through the efforts put in with true passion and commitment. It needs to be complemented by other abilities including work drive, determination, and persistence if one is to harness his or her potential in its ‘fullness’. To be great one needs talent plus how one uses it and how one grows must be amazing.

Therefore, it should be noted that talent, however effective and desirable, is not the only factor to control. True talent is not only sufficient to succeed but it demands doggedness and commitment to success as well as an individual’s desire to grow. This simply means that although talent may help one to start off well, what one is willing to do and do well will enable him or her to go further in life. Thus, talent alone does not make the person great or define his success in a certain occupation. Where talent and hard work are coupled and extremely hard and productivity is a requirement, only the best can be made.

One of my favorite quotes ever:

The Power of Persistence
Calvin Coolidge - “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

That’s a truly inspiring quote, Calvin Coolidge reminds us that persistence and determination are more powerful than talent, genius, or education. It’s a great motivation to keep pushing forward despite obstacles. Thanks for stopping by
