One of the challenges we face as students in my country aside from the academic challenges is inflation, especially for students who don't have a well defined budget. As a student there are some strategies you can use to navigate rising costs effectively. Here are some practical tips that have helped me cope with inflation as a student.

Cooking My Own Meals

One of the most effective means one can save up money as a student is by cooking your personal meals. The habit of eating out in a restaurant or ordering takeout can quickly drain your finances, especially as prices rise, before now in my campus you can comfortably eat outside with a little amount of money and get satisfied, but now things have changed as there is a high increase in the prices of goods and services . By preparing my own food, I have full control of the costs and it ensures that I'm eating fresh, raw, healthy, and balanced meals. I did my meals menu that will run for a week and list of items to buy. This has been so helpful to me because I don't make impulsive purchases and ensure I use what I buy. And then the next thing I usually do is to buy a particular brand of products that is cheaper but still good and has quality.

Venture into Agriculture

I'm one person who have passion for agriculture, and being a student is not what should limit me from Cultivating so vegetables and other simple crops. Where I live I don't even have enough space but I started my little garden using the Seedbed method to grow vegetables, tomatoes, okra, pepper and maize. It has been a rewarding journey and has helped reduce the cost of food stuff.

Buying in Bulk

Ever since I discovered that Purchasing items in bulk can lead to significant savings, especially for non-perishable goods and household items, I made it a necessity to always buy the non-perishable items in bulk. Sometimes I do add up money with my friends and buy in bulk then we share them, The price is far better than buying in bits.

Riding My Bicycle To School

Ever since the removal of fuel subsidy in my country, the price of transportation has tripled and it has been a very big burden to me. Since I had a sports bike, I decided to take my bike to school. It is a more healthy and cost-effective alternative.

In addition to that I have carefully managed the budget more effectively. These strategies have not only helped me save money but also promote a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
