Twisted! Unmissing By Minka Kent || Book Review.
What would you do if your wife who has been missing for a decade and legally proclaimed dead suddenly comes back after you have remarried and moved on with your life?
Last month, I was eager to read a thriller, but as I went through my TBR list, I stumbled upon a psychological thriller instead and it was a fantastic read for me. Though this is my first time reading the author's work. I think I will be read her other books soon.
’Unmissing’ is a fast-paced psychological thriller from author Minka Kent. This book was published February 2022. It is a well-written domestic thriller with lots of unexpected twists and turns.
Synopsis
The story of this book begins ten years ago when Lydia, a young woman who is married to Luca. Lydia and her husband had just moved to his home town so that he could open his restaurant there while shs is also applying to nursing school. As these plans were been executed, the couple were also planning to start a family.
Lydia loves her life, grateful for Luca and the home they occupy but unfortunately for her, “the perfect life” was stolen away from her when a large hand clamped over her mouth and warns her not scream. This mystery man kidnapped Lydia when she went hiking near Bent Creek, Oregon.
Lydia knew that no one would be able to find her because her backpack that contained her phone, and GPS tracker was left behind after she was taken away. For ten years, Luca looked for her, never giving up until his wife Lydia was legally proclaimed dead.
Fastwarded after ten years, Luca and his new wife Merritt are now living the life they have alway wanted. A life with a coastal home, growing family and a promising future. However, their perfect life comes to an end when a weak, tattered looking woman knocks on their door. Merritt opens the door to see Luca’s first wife standing on their pouch. How did Lydia escape? Why is she back?
My Review And Rating.
First of all, I want to say that I love that the author of this book gave Lydia and Merritt POV. The story of this book literally revolves around this two women. So, as Kent writes from their respective POVs, it was easy for to connect emotional with the two main characters.
The plot was well written, but at first, if you're are not patient you will be bored and stop reading because Kent built up her suspense slowly and sluggishly. She was hoping to get her readers hooked with this method, but I will say, is not everyone who has the patience to wait for the pieces of a story to come together and make sense. Also, I love the unexpected twist in this story. I must say I didn't see it coming.
Her world building was fantastic, the setting was excellent and she developed her character well and made them appear elusive. Each of her character all had one secret or the other that was interwoven seamlessly within the story. Her narrative techniques was also amazing. The only character I had problem with is Luca. His behaviour throughout the story was unrealistic and not relatable.
In this book, Kent generously explores the what-if question. What if good people do bad things? What if the lost was found? Also, to narrate her story, Kent used two timelines (past and present).
The ending was unexpected and suspense filled. Although, towards the end, some scenes felt rushed, but regardless all loose ends were tied properly. No part of the story was left unresolved. Also, while I was reading, her character became inconsistent at a point. I almost gave up on the book but I realise Kent was just trying to throw off her readers from obvious clues.
If you enjoy reading psychological thrillers, I think you should gave this book a try. I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy and quick read. Intriguing, thrilling, fast-paced and suspenseful.
Rating this book, I will give it 4 out of 5 stars. It is a book with interesting and unexpected twist and turns.

This is a powerful review and thanks for this recommendation because I am sure going to read this.
Truth be told, I don't pray to find myself in such situation of seeing my wife who have been missing for a decade at my doorstep. I don't want to even think about it so let me be mute on this.
I will definitely read this. Thanks once again
