I thought this series had been canceled by Netflix but after watching the initial season, I discovered that the TV show has been renewed by Netflix and it's at the filming stage presently.

Honestly, I don't know how to feel about this series’ continuation in works but all I know is that I HOPE in the next season all the mistakes that were pointed out by the viewers are fixed. If not, I wish the series stays canceled.

’The Sandman’ The TV show is quite an interesting, intriguing and yet an entertaining series that I very much enjoyed. It is a series that faithfully follows the comic based books, it's fully packed with dark humor and sinister characters in a twisty way. I would highly recommend this TV show to lovers of Gothic film. This is the perfect movie for you and to those who would want to be enlightened spiritually.

’The Sandman (2022)’ is a dark fantasy supernatural drama that was distributed by Netflix, and produced by Warner Bros. Television along with DC comics. It was based on the comic books written by Neil Gaiman and later developed into motion pictures by David S. Goyer and Allan Heinberg. It starred Tom Sturridge, Boyd Holbrook, Vivienne Acheampong, Patton Oswalt, Mason Alexander Park, Vanesu Samunyai, and Charles Dance.

The storyline of the show revolves around how Lord Morpheus, the king of the Dreaming land was captured by a mortal wizard for his own selfish needs and imprisoned for a century. This mortal wizard took away Morpheus' tools that contained his powers and lost them in the mortal world by auctioning and been stolen from him.

After a century, Morpheus set himself free and began on the journey of looking for all his tools. During this journey, Morpheus encountered a lot of challenges that deterred him from getting his tools back on time while his Dreaming land fell apart brick by brick. Was he able to get his tools back? Did he regain his powers back?

My Review And Rating.

Earlier, I said that this series was faithfully adapted from the comic, but it is not 100% properly adapted due to some unnecessary changes the team of producers thought they could include into the series to make it more interesting. These changes were rather not interesting and didn't blend seamlessly into the storyline.

My experience with this series was a good one I must admit, but along the way, I got bored with the sub-plots that were introduced in the plot of the show. From the beginning, it was intriguing and interesting with promising action and sinister characters. It was a perfection. It was interesting to see that the first six episodes were portrayed well. It was a 10/10 for me.

However, from episode 7 downwards, the storyline depreciated. It was disappointing because it didn't capture the aesthetic from the comics. The introduction of the Vortex subplot felt like a mess with too much exposition, a lot of weird characters that were not engaging enough to let the audience care about them or connect with them. I won't lie, the plot was written averagely okay, but there are lots of potholes here and there. Lots of unnecessary characters that are easily forgettable.

The main cast were amazing and they all acted their roles perfectly well, especially the lead character Tom Sturridge. He was good with the role and he did put up a fantastic show. The rest of the subplot characters fell flat for me. I mostly forgot all about them before the end of the series. I couldn't really connect with them and I was clueless to their backstories.

The cinematography was excellent. It was dark, gothic, and the CGI was amazing and befitting for the show. The scene arrangements were great. All the costumes used were perfect from the original stories. Camera angles and visual effects are used perfectly well in an intriguing way to furthermore pique the curiosity of the viewers. The space designs were well-constructed. The Realms involved in the plot of the show were all portrayed well. I enjoyed it.

Rating this series, I will give it 7 out of 10 stars. It was interesting, entertaining and intriguing to watch. I enjoyed it. It was a good dark supernatural fantasy series. Hopefully, in the next season coming up, the flaws that we're pointed out by the viewers will be working on and better perfect. The expectation for the next season is high and I can't wait to watch it.
