Nobody 2 (2025) || Movie Review.

Finally, the long awaited sequel of Nobody is out. We waited for about four years and I am glad none of the cast died during the wait. To be honest, waiting for a sequel kills me with some much agitation. I start to hope that none of the cast dies or something bad happens to them.
When I saw the Initial sequel back in 2021, it was intriguing and interesting. I enjoyed it, the action, the suspense, tension, and mystery surrounding the main character of the movie kept my attention. Then came the announcement of a second sequel in the works. My expectations were high and I couldn't wait to watch what the production team would put together for us.
Without any waste of time, let's talk about the second sequel. Nobody 2 (2025) is an action thriller that was distributed by Universal Pictures. It was directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the screenplay was written by Derek Kolstad and Aaron Rabin. The movie starred Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, John Ortiz, Colin Hanks, RZA, Christopher Lloyd and Sharon Stone. All these cast reprise the roles from the first sequel except for few supporting characters.
About The Plot.

This sequel continues from where we stop in the initial sequel where Hutch is still working for the barber but this time around, we see him go on various assignments for him so as to pay off the debts he owes when he destroyed and burnt down the Russian obshchak (raw cash). From the start, we see that these “various assignments” have somehow made Hutch distant from his family. This has begun to tell on his relationship with his family especially his wife Becca. Tired of the repeated cycle every day,over and over again, Hutch decided to ask the barber for some time off to spend some alone with his family.

However, the Barber was reluctant about letting Hutch go on a break with his family but in the end he granted Hutch’s request but leaving him with a food for thoughts, ”This job is in your nature and nature always wins. Wherever you go, there you are”. I say that was something to think about for Hutch😅.

So Hutch went ahead to plan the vacation trip for his family to go to an amusement park in Plummerville, Wisconsin, a place where he and his father used to go during his childhood years. Although, before they went down to the plummer ville, Hutch promised Becca to live his ”Nobody life” behind. Well, as the Barber said, nature took its cause when Hutch and his family were bullied out of an arcade center which led to the opening of a Pandora box of chaos. Can Hutch hold down beast from not coming out to play? Will Hutch and his family enjoy their vacation?
My Review And Rating.
Nobody 2 was a worthy sequel and I hope there won't be a third sequel so as to not water it down the quality of the storyline.
For me, this movie was one of the exciting movies that was released last year. I enjoyed watching it. It was fun, thrilling and also the tension was incorporated well into the plot and cinematography.
Though the sequel is filled with a lot of good stunts, and adrenaline, there were some parts of this movie that weren't impressive to me. Like the change of the director which showed a huge difference in this sequel. I was actually disappointed that the director was changed and you could tell from start to the end of the movie. Regardless, it was entertaining. This movie is a kind of movie you watch once without any experience or memories sticking to you afterwards. It's a shame considering the talent involved.
Talking about the plot and script, I think Derek Kolstad and Aaron Rabin did an average job considering how the initial sequel's script was written with more substance and excellent characters. In this sequel, the script lacked substance. It felt like Kolstad and Rabin wrote the script within a short period of time. The dialogues seemed awkward, vulgarity was forcefully and rarely used. The flow was poor. The pacing was a mess. It started strong through the first act and setup then it started to drag down and then picked up at the very tail end. The villain was poorly written, generic and nasty, I think she made the movie worse. She was a forgettable villain. All these made the first sequel still better.
The cinematography and the overall production was good. I will give them that. I loved the camera angles, swings and twists during the chaotic scenes, which made it better than just watching straight up action scenes. The stunts were well coordinated and shot. Still in the end, the bus scene from the first sequel was the best and none of the action scenes in this sequel can measure up to that.
The cast were good, only that the script kind of restricted them. However, Bob Odenkirk is still a good protagonist and it was nice watching him. Also, the support characters didn't have much to do. They didn't really make any impact like the villain also. I think the only memorable characters for me in this movie are Hutch, Abel (the sheriff) and AZA. Apart from them, the others were just passing by for me.
Overall, I enjoyed this sequel. It was nice, fun and enjoyable but still doesn't measure up to its predecessor. The initial sequel will be my favourite because some of the scenes there haven't left me. I hope they do not successfully make another sequel because I think the Nobody is done.
Rating this movie, I will give it 6 out of 10 stars. If you have watched the initial sequel, I can tell you that you will watch this sequel but a piece will be missing for you which you will find when you rewatch the first sequel. Did you like this recent sequel or the previous?
