Harsh Critics At It Again! The Bondsman (2025) || Tv Series Review.

I have a question that has been bothering me for years now. Why do good Tv shows/series get cancelled and silly Tv shows/series get renewed every year? I need genuine answers in the comments.

Farewell to The Bondsman production crew and the cast, it was quite a thrilling ride with you all.

After watching this series, I discovered that it has been cancelled and will not be renewed for another season. Another Constantine on the shelf. It was disappointing to learn that this series has been cancelled all thanks to the harsh critics who have nothing but anxiety when watching the first episode of a brand new series. This series was cancelled due to the harsh reviews and decline in viewership. I am speechless!

The Bondsman Series is an action horror series that was created by Grainger David and aired on Amazon Prime Video. Each episode of this series has a run time of 24 - 38 mins and only 8 episodes were aired. It starred Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Nettles, Beth Grant, Damon Herriman, Maxwell Jenkins and Jolene Purdy.

The storyline of this series majorly revolves around Hub Halloran and his family. You see, Hub is a backwoods bounty hunter who had a life, divorced from his wife, and a musical career which is nearly forgotten. Now, on a fateful night, Hub went on a job to claim a bounty unknown to him that job would be the end of him.

On the job, he was killed but he comes back from the dead unexpectedly with a second chance at life. However, Hub discovers that he did only get a second chance at life but he has now become a bounty hunter for the devil. He now hunts down demons that escaped from hell to earth.

As this becomes his new job and life, the devil assigned to him Midge, his new handler. Midge is from the Pot O'Gold corporation, Satan's front company on Earth. She explains to him his job description and how needs to contact "HR" if there is any problem with any job assigned to him. Also, she explained to him how he got his second chance at life and why. Will Hub uphold the end of the bargain? Will Hub become a demon hunter or face the consequences of not adhering to the deal? What happens next in his life?

My Review And Rating.

This series isn't just action horror but it is a mix of dark comedy, drama and plenty of gore. All these were mixed well by a good cook. Honestly, I am so. Impressed with how all these were mixed well and written excellently to suit the themes portrayed and the characters.

The storyline was well written and they deserve praise. I love how each character revolves around each theme portrayed in the plot. I was impressed with how it began. You would think that the main character’s role has been cut short from the beginning, but no. There was more to come and it all led to a lot of worms in a can. Also, some of the themes portrayed gave quality and substance to this show’s plot. They are ; redemption and second chances, morality, sin, line between good and evil, damnation and supernatural activities.

The cast were fantastic. They all had their moments of spotlight and they were so good that they elicited some emotions out of me. Kevin Bacon as Hub Halloran was an amazing lead. He carried his role like he was made for it. His mannerism, humor shows he was just the perfect person for the role.

Beth Grant as Hub’s mother turned out to be my favourite character in this show. I love her performance. The motherly connection chemistry was there, she was fun, stoic, protective, and a bad ass considering her age. Honestly, she made the show a fun watch for me.

Then you see Damon Herriman as Lucky Callahan was the most annoying character in the show. I was earnestly waiting for when his character would be killed and I wouldn't miss him. The supporting characters were all good too and they were missed after their appearance time was over.

The scene arrangements were good, not perfect. The vfx and special effects were good and excellently shot well. If you like horror that makes you laugh instead of horror that makes you scared of putting off the light when you want go to bed, then this show is for you. The music selection was good and noticeable. I love all the country music used in the show. The show’s aesthetics were dark, country and small town / country side.

Rating this series, I will give it 8.5 out 10 stars. I enjoyed watching this show. It was nice, interesting, and thrilling. I wonder why exactly it was cancelled. I feel there is more to the reason. As a good critic of a series, you shouldn't be able to review a series until you have watched more than 5 episodes. Don't use the first episode to destroy someone's years of hard work.
