¡Hola Chicos!
Como les venía contando hace unos días, en el mes de octubre estuvimos realizando varias actividades relacionadas con Halloween, y con toda esta onda de las catrinas por el día de muertos (que siento se popularizó más por la película Coco), no podía perder la oportunidad de realizar con mis alumnos una actividad así.
Ese mismo día también teníamos clase de crochet, así que me tocaba salir de casa desde bien temprano. Me ha costado un poco adaptarme a ese horario, pero aún así siempre logro llegar a tiempo para recibir a mis alumnos.

As I mentioned a few days ago, in October we did several Halloween-related activities, and with all the talk about Catrinas for Day of the Dead (which I feel became more popular because of the movie Coco), I couldn't miss the opportunity to do an activity like this with my students.
That same day we also had a crochet class, so I had to leave home very early. It's been a little difficult adjusting to that schedule, but I always manage to get there on time to meet my students.
Y con ese sol horrible de medio día salí de mi casa. Deseo mucho poder estar al menos un poco más cerca de la avenida, pues lo que más me cuesta es ese trayecto de caminar hacía la zona donde puedo tomar el transporte.
No conseguía transporte y les había enviado a mis alumnas que llegaran un poco después para poder llegar más cómodamente. Al cabo de unos minutos por fin llegó un carro que iba hasta el centro y para mi suerte tomó la ruta más corta.
Como llegué antes de lo pautado me puse a limpiar un poco el local y llegaron las alumnas como 20 minutos antes. 😅 Prácticamente terminamos haciendo todo en el horario correspondiente. Ese día no tomé casi fotos de esa clase.
And with that awful midday sun, I left my house. I really wish I could be at least a little closer to the avenue, because what I find most difficult is that walk to the area where I can catch public transportation.
I couldn't find any transportation, so I had told my students to arrive a little later so we could get there more easily. After a few minutes, a car finally arrived that was going downtown, and luckily for me, it took the shortest route.
Since I arrived earlier than scheduled, I started cleaning the studio a bit, and the students arrived about 20 minutes early. 😅 We practically ended up doing everything on time. I didn't take many pictures of that class that day.
Luego llegaron las alumnas de pintura y ahí comenzamos a darle forma a esas calaveras, todas trabajaron desde cero sus dibujos y luego pintaron el fondo y comenzaron a hacer recortes con las hojas de colores.
Cada una iba siguiendo sus instintos y personalizando a su gusto. Yo por supuesto les di algunas ideas para que supieran que hacer.
Then the painting students arrived, and that's when we started to give shape to those skulls. They all worked on their drawings from scratch, then painted the background and began cutting out shapes with colored paper.
Each one followed her instincts and personalized her creation to her liking. I, of course, gave them some ideas to guide them.
Así lograron hacer unos diseños hermosos de catrinas, cada una con un toque personal. Esta fue una actividad que me gustó mucho hacer porque pudimos aprender un poco más de la cultura mexicana a través de estas obras.

They created some beautiful Catrina designs, each with a personal touch. This was an activity I really enjoyed because we were able to learn a little more about Mexican culture through these creations.
