Pintando mi primer encargo de un Retrato. El rostro || Painting my first portrait commission. The face ♥
¡Hola Chicos!
Como les comenté en mi post anterior, hace pocas semanas estuve pintando por primera vez un encargo que me hizo la mamá de una de mis alumnas. Anteriormente les conté como fue ese proceso en el que hice el boceto y la aventura que les contaré el día de hoy fue parte del proceso que viví al pintar la parte más importante, el rostro.
No fue nada fácil la verdad y pero en esta etapa aprendí muchísimo. Las veces anteriores que estuve pintando rostros o personajes, tenía como base el color "piel". Les cuento que en realidad nuestra piel es un cúmulo ENORME de colores y tonos, y lo que menos predomina es este tan usado color piel.
Yo me puse un reto (como en todo el cuadro la verdad jajaja) y es que quería usar colores primarios para poder crear los tonos ideales de la piel, para comenzar porque no tenía pintura de este color.
Cabe destacar que yo para pintar cuadros de este tipo estoy acostumbrada a utilizar pinturas al óleo, y en este caso estaba utilizando únicamente pinturas al frío, las cuales se trabajan de forma completamente diferente y que secan súper rápido, lo que hacen levemente complicada la tarea.

As I told you in my previous post, a few weeks ago I was painting for the first time a commission that the mother of one of my students gave me. Previously I told you how was that process in which I made the sketch and the adventure that I will tell you today was part of the process I lived when I painted the most important part, the face.
It was not easy at all, but in this stage I learned a lot. The previous times that I was painting faces or characters, I had as a base the color “skin”. I tell you that in reality our skin is a HUGE accumulation of colors and tones, and what predominates the least is this so used skin color.
I set myself a challenge (as in the whole painting hahaha) and I wanted to use primary colors to create the ideal tones of the skin, to begin with because I had no paint of this color.
It should be noted that I am used to use oil paints to paint this kind of pictures, and in this case I was using only cold paints, which are worked in a completely different way and dry super fast, which makes the task slightly complicated.
Para comenzar pinté una base que en mi paleta lucía bien, pero ya luego me di cuenta que era muy oscura. por un momento pensé en aclarar poco a poco las zonas con más luz, pero luego decidí aplicar una capa de un color crema por toda la superficie del rostro.
Esto me daba mucho miedo al principio porque iba a borrar todos los detalles que había trazado, por eso dudé en hacerlo, pero ya luego me animé y bueno al terminar de hacerlo parecía que le estuviera haciendo una mascarilla al señor jajajajajaja 😂
Me reí mucho de esto y por supuesto tenía que mostrarles esta foto a ustedes.
To begin with I painted a base that looked good on my palette, but then I realized that it was too dark. For a moment I thought about lightening little by little the areas with more light, but then I decided to apply a layer of a cream color over the entire surface of the face.
This was very scary at first because it would erase all the details that I had traced, so I hesitated to do it, but then I encouraged myself and well when I finished doing it it looked like I was doing a mask to the gentleman hahahahahahaha 😂
I laughed a lot at this and of course I had to show this picture to you guys.
Luego comencé a aplicar nuevamente los tonos un poco más oscuros y a hacerle los detalles, en este punto seguía sin sentirme cómoda con lo logrado, así que decidí dedicarme a zonas específicas como los ojos y la boca.
En la foto original los lentes tenían un reflejo de luz y había pensado en recrearlo, pero esto luego decidí omitirlo, pues parecía que tuviera los ojos pintados.
El proceso del cuadro fue ensayo y error, y como siempre digo, en la pintura siempre hay maneras de solucionar, así que estaba tranquila con esto y aprendiendo de lo que funcionaba y lo que no.
Then I started to apply again the tones a little darker and to make the details, at this point I still didn't feel comfortable with what I had achieved, so I decided to focus on specific areas such as the eyes and the mouth.
In the original photo the lenses had a light reflection and I had thought about recreating it, but then I decided to omit it, because it looked like she had painted eyes.
The process of the painting was trial and error, and as I always say, in painting there are always ways to fix, so I was at ease with this and learning from what worked and what didn't work.
A medida que iba cambiando el tono de la piel, iba modificando las facciones. Es por eso que ven durante el proceso que el rostro iba cambiando tanto.
Decidí irlo modificando hasta que llegara a un punto que me sintiera realmente cómoda con el resultado.
El tono de la piel fue un reto en todo el proceso, pues como eran mezclas de color, habían momentos en los que no daba con el tono anterior. Las pinturas al frío al secar toman un color más oscuro al que está en la paleta, así que me tocó modificar esto un sin fin de ocasiones. Todo esto ocurrió en el transcurso de una semana más o menos. Iba trabajando en los momentos que tenía libre y me sentía cómoda para poder pintar.
Decidí dejar a un lado el rostro por un rato y me dediqué a pintar la camisa y la corbata. Hasta acá sentía que iba tomando mejor forma el cuadro. En un próximo post les mostraré el resultado de este retrato ♥

I decided to modify it until I reached a point where I felt really comfortable with the result.
The skin tone was a challenge throughout the process, because as they were mixtures of color, there were times when I could not find the previous tone. The cold paints take a darker color when they dry than the one in the palette, so I had to modify this a lot of times. All this happened in the course of a week or so. I was working in the moments I had free and I felt comfortable to paint.
I decided to leave the face aside for a while and I dedicated myself to paint the shirt and tie. Up to this point I felt that the painting was taking better shape. In a next post I will show you the result of this portrait ♥

Me reí demasiado con el tema de la mascarilla, pues lo imaginé haciendo una rutina de skin care. Lo bueno es que resultó, pues se aproxima a la foto que tienes de muestra.
Hiciste un trabajo excelente sobre todo porque no es nada fácil mantener la expresión de un rostro y mas cuando posa en un ángulo no muy común
