Starting My Indoor Peruvian Pepper Garden: A Growing Adventure
Since I’ve been making a decent amount of disposable income lately, I’ve decided it’s the perfect time to start my indoor growing adventure—and that means I’m in the market for some good grow lights.
Living here in Florida has been great overall, but taking care of the outdoor garden after a long day of work can be exhausting. It’s not that I mind the effort—what really wears me down is the intense humidity and heat. Some days, all I want to do is come home and dive straight into a nap.
Given that I can be a little lazy sometimes, I figured it would be smart to set up an indoor growing space. I'm planning to buy some grow lights, a plant rack, and reuse some of the old containers we’ve been saving—both plastic and glass ones—to grow food crops like peppers, onions, and a few other things inside.
While browsing Amazon, I also got inspired to look for Peruvian pepper seeds. It’s tough to find them unless I order from a Peruvian restaurant and ask for some of their sauces on the side—sometimes I’ll get lucky and find seeds in them. But most of the time, those seeds are from ají limo peppers.
Ají limo is great for ceviche, and I definitely use it in my Peruvian dishes at home. But I want to bring even more heat and distinctive flavor to my cooking. That’s why I’m on the hunt for ají amarillo and ají rocoto—two iconic Peruvian peppers also used in ceviche and many other dishes. Personally, ají amarillo is my favorite for its fruity heat, while ají rocoto packs a fiery punch with a quick-burning sensation that’s hard to forget.
So while I’m shopping for grow lights, I’ll also be comparing prices on ají amarillo and ají rocoto seeds. Before long, my very own Peruvian Pepper Empire will be thriving—right here at home.
