News Websites Can Be Unusable for People with Older Devices
I've noticed that a bunch of these mainstream news sites flood their websites with advertisements. For people who use old devices, going through these websites makes them extremely unusable. Whether it's local affiliate channels, CNN, Fox News, NBC, etc., they all have the same issue.
Typically, I use brave or adblockers to avoid any possible issues, but it's pretty crazy how these websites overuse ads. Is this an issue with the lack of better technology or is this an issue of websites being selfish? I would say it's both, but I find it interesting.
I only started thinking of this because I have an old Chromebook that I bought and I have an old cellphone that I use. My cellphone is able to run these websites without issues, but my Chromebook does seem to lag behind a bit. Sure, it's not a fair comparison.
What do you guys think about the issue?
