The Old and the New

Having had fun in there good old days, our elders will always speak of how we have lost the sweet heart piecing words that comes along with music. For them, music no longer have good lyrics. On the other hand, I have never for once though that assumption is valid. There is no generation without heart lifting and fantastic music. As a matter of fact, different styles and genres of music are produced on daily basis. All one need to do is to make the right choice at the right time or at the right event.

In my opinion, there is no irrelevant music. Every form of music is meant to serve it's purpose; and if the purpose of the music is served, the music automatically dismisses every irrelevancy attached to it. Thus, that you are not a lover of hip-hop, high-life or R&B do not make any of those genre irrelevant. That you are not a lover of music from the 80's, 90's or even 20's do not make music produced in of any those times irrelevant.

After having an argument with an elderly friend of mine, I decided to shear my opinion with my fellow music lovers. For Mr Emeka, this generation has lost the essence of music and no music from this generation really make sense. Now, Mr Emeka is an elderly neighbour of mine. Listening to him while he completely condemns all contemporary music, I could not at some point mind my business any longer. I had to speak up for the love of music. After I must have done all that is in my power to convince Mr Emeka that contemporary music are as relevant as that of the old times, the old man who have never payed attention to current music bluntly told me that I was saying jargons😀. There was definitely nothing I could say to convince him.

Now, what do you think? Which is more important, the old or the new? I have always known that there is a generational war in the world of music, but I have just come to realise how trivial it is this evening after encountering Mr Emeka😀. In my own opinion, this generational war is absolutely irrelevant. All one need to keep the mind and body going is good music. Good music, notwithstanding the generation from which it came from. Now, what is good music?

Just like I have stated earlier, "every form of music is meant to serve its purpose". Now, a good music is that music which you need at a particular point in time. On the other hand, that you do not or may never need a particular type of music do not make it a bad music. Thus, there is probably nothing like a bad music. Instead of condemning any form of music, all one need to do is to realise those music that bring peace to his/her soul (his or her good music). It is also of great importance to understand that while some music might seem loud or even noisy, there are times and occasions when they are highly recommended.

It's my first post in this wonderful community and I appreciate you for reading through😊. One love ✌️

All music are all important, Both the old and new generation music. To me, Every music comes with their own message and most musician didn't just sing, some of them sing from what they're passing through.
