THE BEST POWER SOURCE
In this part of the world, having a backup power source is no new thing; it is, in fact, crucial if one must ensure a steady power supply. It was formerly the case that people went for petrol generators; I guess the increase in the price of petrol caused many people to withdraw. Solar has, as a matter of fact, become the best option for many; I too think it far better than the normal power supply and petrol generators. Having experienced these three different electricity sources, I think solar is superior, and I have my reasons.
REASONS WHY SOLAR IS THE BEST
- Very Reliable Power Supply
There is nothing like being sure of electricity. It might not be the same for everyone, since not everybody has to deal with blackouts being normal, but in this part of the world, it means a lot. Apart from the expenses involved in installation, solar seems to be really favourable for those of us in this part of the world. If installed, one is certain of 24 hours of electricity, depending on the capacity of one's system. The sun would certainly not be a problem, since there is almost never a time when you will find the sky completely void of sunlight, except at night.
- No Pollution
We were formerly used to people using petrol generators for backup; a power system that produces both noise and air pollution. For some reason, the pollution was never a problem then; everyone tolerated the noise and smoke from each other's generators. All thanks to the high cost of petrol, which became so expensive that many could no longer afford it. Those who could eventually realised that solar is cheaper in the long run. Now, everyone has come to realise the kind of pollution that comes along with the formerly most popularly used backup power system. I certainly would not love such pollution to be as normal as it used to be, and I certainly would not comfortably cause it myself ever again.
- Low Maintenance Cost
Unlike the formerly used petrol generator, solar does not demand fuel of any form. It also does not demand regular repairs, since it is not a mechanical engine. As a matter of fact, a solar system can stay for a full year without becoming faulty if well managed. Experts only recommend an annual maintenance to ensure smooth functioning and to avoid sudden breakdowns.
- Cheapest Power System
Notwithstanding the fact that it is never stable, the price of the regular power supply is really alarming. Though it is far cheaper than using a petrol generator, given the high cost of petrol. On the other hand, solar costs nothing to run; all it requires is the installation price. That is, if you are able to install your own system.

I also believe solar is the best one to have amongst the other two. There is no constant paying of bills, no noise or even having to que to get fuel from the filling station.
