STAYING HEALTHY

Life is beautiful, but more beautiful if one takes care of oneself. I think I have eventually learned that, but the hard way. The previous year almost broke me down, and I have made a decision not to go through that a second time.

The job I was doing last year was so time-consuming that I barely had time for myself. Working from Monday to Saturday, I only had Sunday, which would sometimes be taken away from me all in the name of an emergency. Yes, it was that bad. I resigned at the beginning of this year to take two part-time jobs; they might not pay up to what the former job was paying, but they at least give me all the time I need. Considering how much time I get from them and the fact that the former job incurred its own expenses, they are no doubt better than my former one.

Now that I have lots of time to myself, there are some activities that I have put in place to keep myself healthy.

SLEEP

I may not entirely consider this a routine, but the fact that I have had the opportunity to catch more sleep lately deserves to be mentioned. After all, it greatly impacts my health. Before now, it was the case that I barely got up to six hours' sleep every day. Having more time to myself has made me realise what I have all this while been doing to my health.

EXERCISE

Formerly, I was so busy that I did not have time even to exercise. Though I had Sunday to myself, it was barely enough for me to take care of things and get enough rest at the same time, since it was my only day off. Since I have gotten more time to myself, I have made it a routine to undergo morning exercises. Once I awake in the morning, I ensure that I do a thirty-minute in-house workout; I do that every day of the week. On Saturdays, I go for a road walk, covering at least three thousand metres. On Wednesday and Sunday evenings, I join my volleyball team for training and sometimes matches.

LATE NIGHT MEAL

Given how things formerly were, it was always the case that I had no option but to eat very late at night. After my usual daily routine, I would often get back home late. Now, I have all the time to myself, and for the sake of my health, I have decided that I will not eat once it is past 7 pm. It is actually my first time trying this out, and it has certainly not been easy. Sometimes, I get hungry again by 12 am 😀.

CONCLUSION

Thank God I eventually realised that taking care of myself is paramount to any other thing, and that has really been of help. The importance of little daily practices to keep our health intact cannot be overemphasised. No one should be left behind; make the decision today and do everything possible to keep your health intact.

I loved your post. Reading it I found peace. You know I think that one of the most valuable things we have now is to walk slowly, to get out of the race of the system that pushes us to go faster and faster. I'm so happy for you and this new healthy and spacey turn you've made in your life. 😊

Thank you so much @kathajimenezr for stopping by
At some point, it was like I have worked myself out; I really needed the rest.
