KNOWLEDGE: A TOOL TO NAVIGATING THE WORLD OF EXPERIENCE

Knowledge is necessary in life. It is the knowledge we gather that help us learn how to navigate which ever ramification of life we find ourselves. On the other hand, experience comes to being only when we must have acquired knowledge. In other words, one can be knowledgeable but not experienced.

Both knowledge and experience are of great importance. It can in fact be said that a man without knowledge lacks the necessary tools to navigate the world of experience. It is only when a person have gained the necessary knowledge that he or she would be able to become experienced. Thus, one must learn to gather the right knowledge since the wrong knowledge can actually result to becoming wrongly experienced.

PRACTICE, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

I might be wrong, but knowledge for me is the foundation of whatever experience that is to come. If this be the case, then the quality of one's experience cannot completely be based on how long he or she has practice. In other words, knowledge determines the quality of one's experience. Often times people associate experience with how long a person have practice a particular profesion, but I see it from a different angle. The time of practice should not be put into much consideration since the knowledge gathered during practice is not certainly tantamount to how long the practice was. It is how much knowledge that was gathered during practice that matters. Experience builds on knowledge and practice can only make perfect if sufficient knowledge was gathered in the process.

KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE

To choose either knowledge or experience over the other is like to choose either the root or the crown of a tree over the other. Experience for me is like a tree that is being sustained by knowledge being the root. Take away knowledge being the root and the tree is no more. On the other hand, the crown being experience remains that which bring about most of the benefits of the tree while knowledge remains hidden deep in the ground sustaining the life of the entire tree.

WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT?

Obviously speaking, experience tend to be of more importance than knowledge. But the truth remains that experience cannot do without knowledge, the both are simply of great importance. One's knowledge is made open in his or her experience and the quality of one's experience is dependent on his or her knowledge. In other words, knowledge informs experience. If anyone is to be of more importance, it should be the root; it should be knowledge. An individual is able to practicalize experience simply because of knowledge which has informed his or her experience. Experience then is simply knowledge in practice, it is after knowledge must have been nurtured that experience can then come to being. As a matter of fact, one can be knowledgeable but not experienced, but one cannot be experienced if he or she have not first become knowledgeable. The very fact that one can exist without the other could be enough reason to consider it superior. If I may opine, knowledge is superior to experience.
