FATHERS TOO DESERVE AFFECTION

I first encountered this music on Sunday being the 16th of June. It was the father's day celebration and that was indeed a perfect song for the day. To make it even more interesting, it was performed in my favourite music genre: Choral Highlife.

Over hear in Nigerian, so much emphasis is placed on celebrating the mothers that we in many occasion forget about celebrating the fathers. While mothers day celebration throw the biggest parties, fathers day are sometimes even forgotten. In this very matter, even our cultures is biased. Over here in Nigeria, there are so many traditional songs that are dedicated to mothers but you can only find few or even non for the fathers. The song in question is titled "Ndi Nna Ide", it is probably the only Igbo traditional song that is being dedicated to the fathers.

With how much I have fallen in love with this song, writing down it's complete translation will definitely not be a problem, but I will not have to go through such stress any longer since the video editor have already helped out with that. As much as possible, just take your time, listening to that song (read the subtitle along if necessary) and join in celebrating our fathers.

Enough about the song, all of these is about our fathers and it is good we celebrate them. The role of father in a family can never be underestimated, those of us who had amazing father would completely agree with me. They are no different from the super man. Though the 16th June was the international fathers day celebration, but it is never too late. If you are yet to take you dad out, the time is still right. If you are yet to buy him a gift, do it now before it's too late. We are still in the week of the international fathers day celebration and it is important we give our fathers the chance of feeling what being loved is all about. Fathers too deserve affection.
