THE UNIVERSAL POWER OF MUSIC
Music is good, so good that lyrics are sometimes not needed to pass the intended message. The relationship between music and emotion cannot be overemphasised, and it is sometimes through emotions that crucial messages are passed. When music speaks using emotion as its language, people understand, regardless of their language or dialect. At this point, even cultural barriers are broken.
This very power of music is more evident in the fact that people listen to artists of distinct cultural backgrounds or even languages. The style, pattern, or even language of the music might be alien to them, but the message is made clear through emotional impact. With this being possible, universality is also made possible. How far a music can go becomes absolutely limitless.
Emotional language in music also creates a possibility for an artist to tell their story in a language that will be understood by all. The artist is able to create an atmosphere that aligns with what they feel. By doing this, the artist is able to express a universal human emotion - be it joy, love, or sorrow. With this being made possible, one can feel and understand the expression of the artist, regardless of their language.
For obvious reasons, music is the best medium to bridge cultural gaps and facilitate understanding. Collaboration is, as a matter of fact, made possible; of course, it has been made possible for people from different cultural backgrounds and with different languages to connect through music. Culture is no longer a problem, since people can connect regardless of language. With regard to this very fact, festivals and concerts can be held with no regard to either the dialect or the genre of music being performed.
Given how much it is expected that music promotes globalisation, global events somehow see the need to feature world-renowned artists. Sometimes the artists do not even sing in an international language, but somehow, people echo their choruses as if it's their local language. The very fact that artists can gain fans who do not even understand their dialect makes this really interesting.
I just lay on the bed writing, trying to convince my readers that music is a universal language. At least that is my belief, and I somehow think it is abnormal for anyone to believe otherwise. Taking for granted that everyone would accept music as a universal language, I think these things are at least close to what everyone would say if the question "why is music a universal language?" were raised. Meanwhile, I do not dispute the fact that I might be wrong in all this - there might actually be people who do no t believe that music is a universal language.
Thank you so much for reading through to the end, I appreciate.
