LAGACY AND PRINCIPLES

Since there is nothing we can do about the fact that we will someday die, living well is the desire of every human person, or probably most. I too want to live well, so much so that I will be remembered by what I have left behind. By "what I have left behind", I do not necessarily mean material wealth. It could, as a matter of fact, be anything, but my greatest desire is that I leave a lasting trademark for those who are to come after me, particularly my children yet unborn.

When I eventually have children, I will invest a lot in ensuring that my children get the best of life. Again, not just with respect to material wealth, but whatever is required. Speaking of legacy, I believe that one's children are the most prominent part of their legacy. If it is the case that one fails in ensuring a proper upbringing for their children, they might as well have made one of the worst mistakes of their life - one that will define them negatively even after they cease to exist.

Being principled is key to leaving a great legacy behind. And as much as possible, it is crucial to pass these positive principles on to our children. They are the closest ones to carry them forward after our inevitable death.

With all this being said, one of the things I consider most when speaking of my legacy is my principles. These principles are to leave indelible marks in the lives of those I will ever come into contact with; they are my core values and what I stand for. Given how important my principles are, it is my greatest desire to be able to pass them on to my children. And so, I will do everything in my power to instil these principles in my future children.

In summary, my principles are my opinions about life. These opinions are the result of values that have been passed on to me by my parents. As a matter of fact, I also intend to pass these great values on to my future children. I believe that, just like me, they too will have firm and morally sound opinions about life if these values are instilled. But first, I must do my part well enough.

The world has become the way it is simply because people do not care about morality. No one ever pays attention to whether or not they are remembered for the moral values they upheld. And so, they consider so many things with little or no attention to morality. By implication, their children are also affected by this ideology. I believe that our children are our successors. And so, they are to carry on our legacy after us. If this is the case, then we must not only give them the best life, but also instil in them great and morally sound values.

There is no doubt that there are many other things that I wish to be remembered for, most of which have to do with my intended achievements. Nevertheless, my principles are for me the most important, and I will do everything possible not just to uphold them, but to pass them on to my children.
