Would Be Funny If It Wouldn't Be Sad

A couple of weeks ago I saw a post on X, that made me smile. It wasn't funny, on the contrary, it was a very serious one. The poster said:

Never take financial advice from broke people.

It's common sense if you think of it, no need to have an exceptionally high IQ to realize this is very true, and yet so many don't get it.

As I mentioned previously, I'm spending time on X every day, as that's the most commonly used platform by traders and also, to get the news. Now that I'm back to fully focusing on trading, I started sharing TA on assets that I'm interested in and am trading. These are not calls and it says in my profile: "Sharing my view and understanding of the markets. Not financial advice.", but even so, I'm getting questions all the time, like where do we buy, what do you think the ATH of the asset will be and so on.

This is a brutal world for many reasons and even though trading has been here for ages, available for anyone for years, if not decades, there are still so many willing to risk their little, hard earned money on what others say. I'm always careful with my words and never make any predictions as this is a game of probability, never certainty and no one knows what's going to happen.

X is not the only platform where you see this thing. I've spent more than seven years on Hive, have seen a lot and can tell you, we have both categories here, those who can't live without constantly preaching and looking down on everyone thinking they are the smartest of all and those who are stupid enough to fall for this.

It's mind blowing how some people are playing the same record for years, criticizing everyone and everything, giving the impression they know everything better than anyone else, yet they are at the same level they were 7 years ago. Why? Because they are walking the same path and expecting different outcome. It's a cliche, but it is true.

Different Culture, Different Mindset

Back in the day, when Musing was still a thing, I remember there was a guy from an African country (don't want to name it), who was lecturing everyone all day every day. No matter what the question or the answer was, he came in and lectured the poster we have to do this and that style. When he did that on my posts, I tried to tell him *we don't have to do anything, I do what I think it's right and not what you tell me". Then I asked him why does he feel the need to lecture everyone? He told me he was a community leader and his role was to teach people. Obviously he was a community leader in his small, God forsaken village and thought his role is valid globally. I was sorry to disappoint him (not really), but someone had to tell him the world doesn't work that way.

20250722_134930a.JPG

What I'm trying to say here is, people from some cultures get brainwashed from a very young age, they are raised to listen to older community members, because they say they know best. You are basically raised to not think, but blindly obey others. This is the worst thing you can do to children, as it kills any individual thinking and creativity as well. This is why evolution in these cultures is slow at best, or non existent. Some cultures are even going backwards.

They then march into the real world, full of slogans and reality slaps them in the face as they realize the world doesn't work like that, and that they were sold lies.

Best Herd Ever

We live in a digital era and a good part of the world is participating in the advanced financial world, individually. This means middleman eliminated and all the attribution banks or financial institutions have been handling so far are taken over by the user. You do your banking, manage your investments, insurance, pension fund and so on. This means a huge step towards freedom, in a certain way of course, because centralization is not eliminated yet, but it means a huge responsibility as well and requires a high level of knowledge.

20250722_135112a.JPG

I said a good part of the world, because the other part is still decades behind normality, some even centuries behind. Yes, sounds brutal, but having a debit card alone doesn't mean you're managing your finances, it means only that you have the opportunity to pay with digital currency.

Those with very limited knowledge and raised to listen to others are the best candidates to be manipulated. Lack of knowledge creates insecurity and in such a case anyone who looks like knowing more than you, may seem like a smart person. This is what the so called influecers are using to manipulate the masses and succeeding too. Sometimes who has the biggest mouth seems the smartest, especially to those who don't know anything about the matter.

Painful Wake-Up Call

The road to financial freedom is paved with hard work, sacrifices, attempts, failures and occasional losses. There are no shortcuts. It's 2025 and the more knowledgeable you are, the better your chances to have a better life. Those who understand this will have an easier road, the rest most likely is going to pay a higher price, unfortunately, and start from scratch several times.

This is the most detailed and best read I've come across today.
I hope everyone who read this will get to learn a thing or two.

I've never learned to trade. Several years back, I almost thought I was going to learn, but then I didn't. Gambling with my money has never been an attractive idea and since I wouldn't know what I was doing, gambling is what it would be.

"Never take financial advice from broke people." That made me laugh.

It made me laugh too as it looks like the person saying it is so full of themselves, but it's true and should be taken seriously.

You're right, trading is called gambling, if you don't know what you are doing, or even worse as at the casino you at least have 50 - 50 chance to win. It's not easy.

I read this post twice dear @erikah friend 🙂, I loved what is written here... I grew up in Venezuela and in a small town and I have seen dozens, if not hundreds of such people with that profile of "community leader" parade before my eyes (applies to religious, politicians or even people who achieve their goals and think that everyone needs to be like them) and I have thought so many other times something very similar to that "It would be funny if it weren't sad"... It happens in many places and now everything is more palpable thanks to global communication. Independence and free thinking are difficult to carry out, but they are always the best way!... Top article!... Thanks!...

And that is a beautiful floral cactus, yeah! 😍🌵

I think you can find these people everywhere, in small communities, church especially, companies, in family circles and so on. It's toxic thinking honestly and sometimes you need courage to go against it, but it's the only choice if you want to live your life and make your own choices.

Thank you for the nice words Jesus, I really appreciate them and even more that you read it twice. You're a true gentleman, as always.

Yeah, my cactus is flowering now and I love it 😍

Have a nice evening my dear friend!

That is what I do and am happy with the results. Still trying to get my head round crypto, but this year some modest gains, but can't drop it as the bastard tax man will want a chunk, that is my nest learning curve, "how to keep my money without paying taxes"

I had to read your comment twice in order to understand it 😂

Unfortunately you're right, this is how things work, so many come in thinking they can get rich overnight by copying others or just being the loudest. Life is humbling them though, no worries.

Yes, taxman is a problem and you need to be smart if you want to keep your hard earned money 💰

i have been doing sport trading on quotes for years, i never listened to anyone for advices because they were just scammers selling courses for 2000€ for 2 days of "pro trading lessons", then people attending would lurk around asking quotes and what to do when and were... i learned my way alone, thinking, trying etc and i did well without relying on anyone

it's easy to manipulate ignorant people, that's what leaders want, people who blindy fall and jump off the bridge if get told

The truth is, with the internet widely available to basically everyone, you can have a lot of courses and learn on your own. Paid courses are many, but only a handful are of quality abd even so, it depends on you if you learn or not. Many don't.

Ohhh!! 😍🤩 Beautiful, my friend! This cactus in Cuba is known as the 'Magnificent Parodia'—I have several in my garden, including an adult one. When I get back from work, I’ll send you a photo, @erikah. You know, they’re perfect for the warm climate of my country, and their flowers are stunning.

Such lovely images and cacti!! 🤗 Greetings and a wonderful day to you!! 🙏🏻😊

I was sure you would comment on the cactus and not the topic.

I don't know what's the name of the cactus because the nursery here never mentions the name, so thank you for letting me know.

Friend, the thing is, my language is Spanish and I know very, very little English, so I rarely manage to understand some of my friends' posts on Hive. I try to appreciate the content through their photos instead. At least it’s good that I could say your name, @erikah. Greetings, friend!! 🙏🏻😊

No problem, just be aware that sometimes the photos have nothing to do with the topic of the post, like in this case for example and people will know you didn't read the post.
