It's heartbreaking to read this story, let alone imagine being in your shoes. Not that I'm an expert, but this is going to get harder in time I suppose, as he grows into his teenage years. I hope you'll have the strength and patience to manage the situation. I wish you all the best and hope things get easier.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Yes, it will get more difficult as he gets older. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a muscle-wasting condition, so there will be a lot more times like this. It's certainly a balancing act - making sure that his sister doesn't miss out, but being acutely aware of ensuring he isn't feeling upset because of what she's doing. No real easy answer!
I guess I need to make sure that I recognise any adverse behaviour, such as jealousy, for what it is, rather than purely inappropriate behaviour and act with compassion and understanding.
You're right, this is more than just inappropriate behavior and normal rivalry between siblings. It must be extremely difficult for him to deal with the situation he's in.
