Random Saturday - A Walk Down Memory Lane

avatar

This Saturday is not random, but the photos I'm going to post are. Today I decided to go through my old photo folders, have a look at what I've photographed and post some photos I've never posted along with some ideas I have.

Walk down memory lane.jpg

It's a walk down memory lane, which shows quite a lot, so I think it's going to be interesting.

This is a photo from 2019, my second year on Hive and as almost every newbie, I was shooting a lot of flowers 🙈😆 I'm not saying it's bad, but it depends on how you shoot them.

I still take photos like this these days, but for posts about something else, just to have some photos and definitely not when the focus is on photography.

I remember the first year, most of us wanted to be everywhere, participate in every challenge and competition, like there was no tomorrow. The chain was new, we were new and written and unwritten rules were very different. It's a phase that ends soon, if you understand what to focus on. If not, someone sure is going to tell you that posting 5 shitposts a day is not what you should do. Most of them get angry and argue that deadlines were close, so they had to. Well, no! You don't have to.

I love mosaics, but unfortunately we don't have many in the city. Maybe I should revisit this one and take a few more shots.

I don't miss flower photos, but I miss these, staged ones. Not because it was staged, but because I remember the thought and wonders about what I should put on that old wooden board, for the whole setup to look really old. I didn't use any filer, to get an older look, like sepia for example, but I think you get the feeling.

Maybe it's time to take out my notebook and write down some ideas I could use in the upcoming future, when I'll have more time for this type of photography.

I remember I took this photo one year after I quit drinking coffee and needed to get these coffee beans from my sister in law as I had no coffee beans. I still have them and use them for photo shoots.

DSCN0925a.JPG

At some point I remember I had 2 challenges running. One was a 7 day photo challenge, with a topic for every day, like doors, windows, street lights and so on, but shame on me, I can't remember exactly the conditions. Back then I thought giving people a topic to post about would help, but pretty soon I had to realize this is only for some, as there's always a segment who would interpret the rules their way and fight you accept their abuse.

After 8 years (yeah, my 8 year Hive anniversary was in January and I didn't write about it) I know there will always be a good few ready to fight you on all fronts and with all the tools available to make their incompetence and stupidity accepted. People are people and some never change.

Life on Hive has changed a lot in those 8 years I've been here, but we have also changed a lot. The question is if the change is good or bad, but the answer is subjective of course.

What I did a lot those days was photo walking. I remember I went out with my actifit app on, to get my 8k - 10k steps and take photos on my way. Today I do neither, but I'm planning to start walking again and now that the snow is gone, I'm planning to look for dry leaves, fruits, berries which are perfect subject to photograph this time of the year.

My dad's old camera, but I don't know if he used it for taking photos, or he got it from somewhere. Thank God, or thank you development, that I don't have to use this, or a similar one and I have my digital camera today.

I was looking at this photo ans the ones next to this one, trying to remember the reason why I photographed this book, but I can't, I can't even recall which book this was. I suppose we all do random things and without any reason 😬 but after reading the texts on all the photos, I know now. I had a very good reason.

Looking back to this post, it looks like an incoherent rubbish, maybe it is, it felt good writing it. It's good to look back to how you started and appreciate the progress, if you have made any.

Maybe for the flowers, but running a challenge ... I don't know. Dealing with so many abusers, it's not what I want.

Perhaps it's a way to celebrate these eight years here at Hive, remembering the good times in photography. I love flowers, and the coffee cups are so pretty, although I also like doors. It's been a great journey. I've been here for almost three and a half years, and I also have memories of when I started... thank you for that!

Happy 8th anniversary!🤗

This camera was sold throughout the USSR—not just a camera, but practically a legend. Today, it is sought after by collectors and analog photography enthusiasts around the world.

Yeah, many of the cameras, or should I say the few you could buy here were Russian, or from the Soviet Union. I think my dad sold it years ago. He still has some cameras with films. maybe I'm going to write about them, before listing them for sale.
