Life In Photos
Today I'd like to show you the rest of the photos I took at the photo exhibition in 2023 and have never posted them. Going through these photos gave me an idea about what to do next, regarding photos. I mean I had this idea for a while, but somehow it always gets postponed.
I see a lot of photographers on Hive are posting street-life photos, portrait photos taken of people secretly. I love these, but I'm hardly ever brave enough to do it myself. However, in the upcoming two weeks or so, this is going to change (I hope). Let's see if I can pull it off, but now let's get back to the exhibition I was talking about as I have some amazing photos to share with you.
Not long ago, during my visit to the Transylvanian Crafts Festival, I took a photo of a lady spinning yarn, but that was just for the visitors. I don't think she's doing that at home, I think it was more like a demonstration for the show. This lady on the photo however is not doing it for the camera. She is doing that in her everyday life, which makes the photo more authentic and more valuable. Look at her face, no posing, no acting, no grimacing for the camera, like people do these days.
I'm not sure if the photographer was photo hunting or it just happened to be in the right place at the right time, to capture the lady in action, but the shot is priceless. The lady's generation is the last one and soon there will be not many to do this activity manually.
I love this a lot! I think you could see the house at the far end in my post here, but I'm not entirely sure it's the same house. It doesn't matter though.
I love everything about this photo. The house covered with green grass, the beautiful wooden door, the small wooden house, the angle the photo was taken from and how the photographer framed it. Lovely.
I don't like to use big words, but this photo speaks volumes. If I were to use one word here, that would be "history". That cross is hundreds years old. You don't see those nowadays as modernization took over and marble is what people order. Honestly, I prefer wood, but it'll be up to those left behind.
Back to the photo, imagine how old the cross could be and imagine the when those people, ancestors were buried there.
I would call this portrait "happiness and simplicity" or "simplicity and happiness". So many think the two can't go together, but they are wrong. Look at the lady's face. Every wrinkle can tell you a story. It's a lovely portrait.
These portrait photos are pretty hard to take as genuine people are less and less. Kids at a very young age are taught to smile, to pose for the camera, to look good. Then later when they look at the photos, they are telling themselves how happy they were back then, which is pretty stupid. Don't even get me started on photoshopped bodies and stuff like that.
What is life? So many would tell you life is money, luxury and fame. For them, this is life and I bet you, they I happier than most. Different generation, different mentality, different values.
A monochrome village shot for those who prefer colors out of the picture, literally.
This is a scene that I will always be envying. I'd call it "untouched nature" and the reason it is so difficult to capture it is that winters these days are so mild, compared to when I was a kid, that we barely have any snow. You have to go up in the mountains to get some snow, and even so, only if you get lucky.
When I was a kid, I remember we went to spend some time at my grandparents and that's when we had this kind of snow. It was a real pleasure for us, not so much for the adults. Imagine being locked in your home for the majority of winter months.
From photographic point of view, a scene like this worth a million. Look at those rooftops, covered by show. Love it.
Another fantastic shot and even though I'd have a lot to say here, I'll leave this one for you. Tell me what this photo tells you, what you see here and what you'd call it. Love it! Again, this is where monochrome is totally justified and perfect to use.
Can you imagine yourself in place of the old lady? Foggy autumn morning among the haystack. Lovely shot.
This is now you convince walnuts to come off the tree.
I'm tagging @jlinaresp here, he's going to know why 😎.
I usually upload this shot at the beginning of my post, but for some reason I took this at exit, so here it is.
Now let's see which one is your favorite today. let me know in a comment.

Thanks for sharing!...
I knew you'd love it. There were so many great shots, some similar to what you're taking in your village/town. I hope I can bring more to you :)
Thanks for the nice comment my friend and have a nice day.
It's difficult to choose one out of all of them as I like them all but if I had to choose one it could be the one you call happiness and simplicity or simplicity and happiness as you I really find the lady's face very adorable very lovely portrait if I had to say a story about this lady I'd say she had a very happy life I can't see any worries at all on her face.
Great photos and stories! Love the black and whites too! Very dramatic.
I'm glad you agree with me, that's a really good one and has a lot to say as well, not just a photo.
Yes, I actually love portraits in general, faces say a lot more than anything else.. and that one is very special.
The three words that came to mind were: naturalness, life and history, and those portraits say so much about a person. I loved them. Now, when you talk about natural landscapes without so much human intervention, it's wonderful, especially the snow, although being cooped up for so long must be stressful.
The photo of the walnuts, the lady trying to get them down... it reminded me that I did the same thing when I was a child and teenager. Thank you!
I like to call it untouched nature. Yes, being stranded in the house is tough, but these people are working on fixing things for the gardening season, so no lazying around for them.
About the walnut process, many do that here as well, it's the fastest way to get he walnuts off the tree.
I couldn't just sit around doing nothing... I can't! I would look for tasks and more tasks... Nuts are delicious, nut cakes!
Trust me, those people are used to working all their lives and they are using winter to do what they can't during summer.
Nut cake, yummy.
Thank you for transporting us to another place!🤗
Oh the black and white suits perfectly for this topic! I really like them definitely more
That's my favorite, a man (or woman) trying to fight against the force of nature! The snow dominating everything
And yea here too snow has become rare, when I was kid there was once ever 2/3 years, now last snow was like 7 years ago
You're right, besides, snowy photos are not really colorful as most of the time the weather is overcast, so no blue sky, so making them black and white is the best option. And it's an old lady by the way :)
We had snow each year, but sometimes it lasts for 6 - 8 hours, not more and it's just slush. It's disappointing.

Great photos you've had and maybe I could say there's a story behind those photos? hehe though others are black and white but it entails a story or a reflection. Anyways, thank also for sharing the links for newbies guide. It's helpful.
The original photos were great indeed. I on the other hand, had to work magic to be able to take a half decent photo, due to light, glare and reflection :(
You're welcome, use these guys to get better on the platform :)
It's not just the images you show us, but the way you tell your experience — they're the perfect accompaniment 😍 Those portraits left me wishing I’d captured some like that 😅 Grateful you share this with us!🙏🏾💙
That's the whole point, to share my experience and view of what I've witnessed.
I am hoping to shoot similar photos one day, but you need to be at the right place, the right time and get permission :)
like how you said that true happiness can come from simplicity. Sometimes we forget that life doesn’t need to be fancy to be meaningful
So many forget that money doesn't bring happiness and sometimes getting back to basics is the best thing. Then you can appreciate what you have.
I love them all actually.
You got it captured beautifully. I know that those photos have a deep story behind and I'm intrigued specially on the monochrome village shot.✨
That's the beauty of these photo exhibitions. You see the best photos.
Excelente fotografías. Me gustan muchos la fotos en blanco y negro.
Great photos and stories, excellent photography.
