Let's Mix Another Cocktail

avatar

It's been almost three weeks, since the New Year started, holidays are over, life got back to normal a couple of weeks ago already, so galleries are open too and some are already showing off the new exhibitions.

Let's Mix Another Cocktail.jpg

For me, it's been a low start in this regard as I've not been to any exhibition or fair yet. Winter has been showing us what a real winter looks like, treating us with -18C temperatures, and like it or not, I had to realize my wardrobe is mostly adapted to mild winters now.

Long story short, I preferred to limit my outside presence these days, till next week, but next week my light mode behavior is over and I'm going to new exhibitions. Let the adventure begin! But till then, let's make another art mix, shall we?

This was a photo by György Vajda, in November last year. It is printed on canvas, this is why there's no reflection or glare. Most likely I'm not the only photographer thinking that it's be an honor to capture such a photo one day. Look at the variety of colors and how amazing the dark blue water looks like, as a background. Waterlilies are not common where are live, due to harsh winters, but I bet some of you have these wonderful flowers near where you live and could capture such a photo. It looks like a colorful carpet to me.

Edith Vári Váncza - Life is beautiful, oil on canvas, 70x50 (2015)

This is a bit difficult to read, or should I say, contradictory. It's very common to use children to feature happiness, and at first glance, the kid on the canvas seems to be above the clouds, but to me it seems she's screaming and not necessarily of happiness. Or is that water? You tell me.

This artwork was exhibited at an exhibition called Inner Stairs, that was organized in May 2025. The artist, Gyöngyi Kerekes, was in search of equilibrium, in her art. Most likely I need some guidance regarding this couple.

This was a photo of an artwork, and this was exhibited, not the actual artwork. This was an exhibition I visited in September 2022 and was called Glass and Metal. It's not an unusual thing to exhibit a photo of the artwork, but it usually happens with statures of public places. Now, what do you see here? Seven heads and seven legs? What does that mean?

Cooling Down

Avery cool photo by Hajnal Pataki, from an exhibition that took place in May 2022. Well, this is another reality, unknown to so many. Most people live their entire life in a city and have no idea about how what's happening outside the city. A quiet, more relaxed life, unless you meet a bear or some wolves :) I love how the sheep are spread on the hill and how the snow in basically cutting the photo in half.

This is a funny one and only realizing it now. It's a wooden statue, property of the foundation that is hosting the exhibitions. Most likely a donation from an artist, this statue is moved freely whenever it is needed, wherever there's space. This time it looks like someone carelessly (not in the bad sense of the word though) moved it to the corner and turned it to face the wall as well. It looks like the statue is praying to the wall :) I like it. There are people who do this on a daily bases. Let's see if you know in which country.

Last, but not least, a musical instrument painted by an art student. They have an exhibition each year, the 11th graders to be precise. It's a very nice gesture of the foundation, to give them an opportunity to show their talent and it is a good opportunity for us, visitors, to see something different. I'd call it raw diamonds as they still need to learn and practice a lot, but you can already see the hidden talents.

This is it for today art lovers. Let's see what you pick from here :)

I'll go for the first photo without doubt, that colors are so great, the water blue with reflections, the plants colored as if it's a paint, it's superb...

I also see the kid screaming and in despair, it doesn't seem a happy moment to me... The dark around adds it up

Glass and metals... Hmm I'd say 7 heads, but I got no idea the meaning of that piece 😂

Poor wooden statue!

I pick the instrument by the student. It always amazes me the talent young people can exhibit when they set their minds to something productive.

Firvme, this has been the third year visiting the exhibition for students and it's mind blowing what some can create at that young age.
