Going Back In Time

Today I'm going to take you back in time, but not to September last year, when I took these photos, but to ancient times, when the objects on display were used. These photos were taken at the historical museum, at a temporary exhibition and forgot about them, or I knew I have them, but somehow the time was never right for the topic.

Archeological findings are not exactly my thing, but I have the utmost respect for both the findings as it means proof of history and the finders, archeologists as the work that goes into studying them is tremendous.

The value of these findings is inestimable, which is why so many times these ancient objects become the target of robbery and looting as well. It's a real shame some people sink this low and do immense damage by looting what should be everyone's. Anyway, let's see what we have today.

What I like about these exhibitions is that most of the findings represent a riddle, partly due to being a fragment of something, and partly because those items, objects are not in use anymore (for ages, literally) and we don't know what those are.

These findings date back to late iron age and are either weapons or jewelry.

Warfare was nowhere near as advanced as we know it today, and you can only guess how difficult it must have been to carry those weapons and get not even 1% of the result we'd expect today from a heavy equipment.

Weapons, tools, finery, pieces of pots.

This is where it gets interesting.

Every nation, community had their own coins and back in those days, these coins were handmade, which required some skills.

I tried my best to take a decent photo of these small coins, to be able to show you the design, but this is the best I could do. Would be interesting to know what's happened to those damaged coins.

Medieval and modern age treasures. The advantage of living in the 21th century is that instead of struggling to see those tiny coins under a thick glass, you can have the best version of copy technology can offer and organizers did a great job with these boards. You not only have the photos, but can also read the information available.

If you look at the lower right corner of the board, you can see the scanner used to examine the ceramic jug. I've never had the pleasure to see any close examination of old artifacts, findings, live, but I saw the video of the opening of a 100 year old time capsule and besides the huge responsibility, it must be really exciting.

It is common knowledge that back in ancient times there were amazing craftsmen with exceptional skills even though they didn't have the knowledge, technology and tools of today. Some accomplishments are still a mystery as not even with the knowledge we have today, specialists can't figure out how those were made.

What you see here is a fragment of a military diploma, discovered at Sacareni. Every soldier, after serving, was handed over a metal diploma with the necessary details and information carved on the metal, which then was stamped. This was a tiny piece, which is why the organizers decided to showcase it like this, on a board. Different times, different habits.

Next, a golden ring from Roman times, found in 2010 and has as design a scene, a fight between Hercules and Atreus.

Jewellery is the most interesting part of the exhibition for me. Although I know I don't get to see the fineness of today's jewellery, it's still interesting to see what ladies were wearing in Dacian times.

I love historical pieces like those on display. Especially ancient military pieces and the tools and then the coinage. The effort that went into making those tools and weapons was tremendous. Labor back then for such things was intense.

Exactly and the efficiency of those weapons was not directly proportional with the effort that went into creating them.

First I said... I like that sword... then I said I like those woww, handmade coins... and when I got to the jewellery... I died! I like everything, but I'm a fan of rings and earrings, although the pendants are great and that air of mystery of how they made it I like even more!!! Excellent, I love these visits to this kind of museums!🤗

It's amazing how even in such ancient times, the human capacity to create art, tools, and weapons bordered on the unbelievable... Excellent art report as always, @erikah friend, truly interesting... Have a great #Hive week!!!

Yes, there were some exceptionally talented crafters back then, no doubt about that. Thanks Jesus, I am glad you like them :)

Have a lovely week.
