Beauties From The Art Camp
There was a week in September, when I visited six exhibitions in a week. We had a series of events in the city and the offer was abundant. I'm trying to post about it, slowly, but I'm still behind schedule.
Earlier today I saw a post by @avdesing about rock painting, then in the comment section we had a bit of banter with @mipiano. I told her I have rock solid evidence that she's painting rocks 😆, then I promised her I'd post some painted rocks I photographed at an exhibition, so here I am, keeping my word.
It was an exhibition of the artworks created in different art camps.
At some point I spotted these stones on the ledge of the window ad my first thought was @mipiano, so I took a photo of them, thinking one day these beauties are going to come in handy. These were not part of the exhibition, were just parked there, but this detail has less importance.
I tried to figure out if these were made by kids, but there's no way to know.
And here is my favorite. Of all three, this one I like the most, for the floral pattern and for the colors as well. Blue - green combination will always win me over.
Art camp exhibitions are always a lot of fun as you can find a mix of art of all kinds and you get to meet artists you've never heard of and István Gebora is one of them. I know nothing about him, except what I see on this canvas, but I love it. This messy (in the best sense of the word) villagescape has something unique that makes me want it on my wall. I love the visible brushstrokes, the light cream (or yellow) background and the blurry front.
Flower paintings are a bit overrated in my opinion, no offense, but there are some that are made with an outside the box thinking or style and I love those. This one caught my attention due to the bokeh effect. I like the dark, blurry background, it makes the lovely wildflower bouquet more appealing.
Each exhibition is packed with a lot of surprises and you have the occasion to see how the artists see the world, or better yet, how they choose to put their vision and ideas on canvas or use metal, clay, textile to express their thoughts. This is a painting of a Transylvanian wooden gate you see in some parts of the region. The painter chose a dramatic look, carefully selecting the colors, which I love.
Looking at this lovely village scene, I think I'd call it happy street. Why? Due to the lovely, soft colors the artist used. It's a scene you see in so many villages in Europe, but not many can paint it well. Colors play a huge role in what the outcome will be like and whether your eyes are going to like it or not, but this one is exceptional. I'd love to have this one.
What was interesting here was that they didn't name the artists, it said Lajos Székely and his disciples, so we don't know who carved what, or if they all worked on these pieces. I have a few similar wooden sculptures at home, but the second from the right would have had a place on the wall for sure.
Another village scene, a lovely one. When I see these paintings I'm always wondering if these scenes are childhood memories or places the artists visit and like, or a mix of these two. In this case I tend to believe it's the first as these days roads don't look like that, but then again, this is art, doesn't have to match reality.
I'm going to end my post with this lovely painting. I had to use my flash to capture its beauty, which I rarely do, but I thought it worth breaking my own rules to have this wonderful scene on camera. I just love the colors and the scene too.
