¡Hola amigos! En el día de hoy me paso por acá para traerles mi opinión acerca de una película que se estrenó hace poco en Prime Video, les estoy hablando de El mapa que me lleva a ti.

En esta historia seguimos a un grupo de amigas que están realizando un viaje por Europa para conocer nuevos lugares, aprender un poco de historia, contemplar bellos paisajes y olvidar desilusiones amorosas. Heather es la típica chica que tiene su vida planeada, aceptó hacer el viaje para recorrer, pero en casa la espera un nuevo trabajo importante en un banco, aunque sus planes se desmoronan cuando conoce a Jack en un tren que va a Barcelona. Él es un tipo sin metas a futuro, solo está improvisando sobre la marcha, siguiendo el diario de su abuelo con los lugares en los que estuvo, y Heather se suma a este viaje donde se olvida por unos momentos los planes y siente la libertad por primera vez en su vida. Pero la realidad pronto golpea a su puerta y deberá enfrentarse a la dura verdad de qué hacer con su futuro y todos los planes que tenía.

In this story, we follow a group of friends who are traveling through Europe to discover new places, learn a little history, admire beautiful landscapes, and forget their romantic disappointments. Heather is the typical girl who has her life planned out. She agreed to go on the trip to explore, but at home, an important new job at a bank awaits her. However, her plans fall apart when she meets Jack on a train to Barcelona. He is a guy with no future goals, just improvising as he goes along, following his grandfather's diary of the places he visited, and Heather joins him on this trip where she forgets her plans for a few moments and feels free for the first time in her life. But reality soon knocks on her door, and she must face the harsh truth of what to do with her future and all the plans she had.

Es una película que nos hace reflexionar acerca de la vida y lo que hacemos con ella. Si debemos ser tan estrictos a la hora de vivirla o solo dejarnos llevar por lo que ocurra. Creo que deja un lindo mensaje y es bastante entretenida de entrada con estas amigas alocadas, cada una con su personalidad. Aunque siento que en algún punto se me quedó un poco corta, no profundizó en algunos aspectos importantes y me molesto cierto recurso utilizado.

It's a film that makes us reflect on life and what we do with it. Whether we should be so strict about how we live it or just go with the flow. I think it leaves a nice message and is quite entertaining from the start with these crazy friends, each with their own personality. Although I feel that at some point it fell a little short for me, it didn't delve deeply into some important aspects and I was bothered by a certain device used.

Sé que está mal comparar, pero me gustó un poco más que la de Mi año en Oxford y es que sí, la nombro porque tienen una temática parecida en varios aspectos. Sin embargo, esta me llegó mucho más, me creía las actuaciones y la química entre los protagonistas, y me resultó un poco más profunda en cuanto al mensaje a transmitir. Pero no deja de molestarme que al final todo se reduzca a una sola cosa que en un principio no estaba contemplada, aunque me la vi venir.

I know it's wrong to compare, but I liked it a little more than My Oxford Year, and yes, I mention it because they have a similar theme in several aspects. However, this one resonated with me much more. I believed the performances and the chemistry between the main characters, and I found it a little deeper in terms of the message it conveyed. But it still bothers me that in the end, everything boils down to one thing that wasn't initially contemplated, even though I saw it coming.

En cuanto vi el momento en que me pareció descubrir la verdad me desilusioné, y vale, quizá para ser un poco más clara lo voy a nombrar. De nuevo una enfermedad irrumpe en la película, parece como si ya no pudiera ver algo sin que haya algún personaje que se esté muriendo de cáncer. Que si, que ya se que existe y es muy común, pero no quiero tener que verlo también en una película. Hay más recursos que pueden resultar igual de conmovedores para realizar este estilo de películas sin recurrir a alguna enfermedad. Eso me tiene un poco cansada.

As soon as I saw the moment when I thought I had discovered the truth, I was disappointed, and okay, maybe to be a little clearer, I'll name it. Once again, illness bursts into the film; it seems as if I can no longer watch anything without there being a character dying of cancer. Yes, I know it exists and is very common, but I don't want to have to see it in a movie too. There are other ways that can be just as moving for this type of film without resorting to illness. It's a bit tiresome.

Si dejamos este hecho de lado la película me pareció muy linda, empatice bastante con la protagonista, me pareció super humana en sus emociones y las reflexiones que tuvo a lo largo de la historia. La vi crecer y en una película de corta duración eso está muy bien. Ahora, volviendo a Jack, no sé sabe casi nada de él, si tiene familia o algo más allá del viaje que está haciendo. Eso también me descolocó un poco.

If we put that aside, I thought the film was very nice. I empathized a lot with the protagonist. I found her emotions and reflections throughout the story to be very human. I saw her grow, and in a short film, that's very good. Now, going back to Jack, we know almost nothing about him, whether he has a family or anything else beyond the journey he is on. That also threw me off a bit.

Pero la historia te deja pensando mucho y tiene frases hermosas, hay una que se me quedó grabada y dice "El amor es lo que nos hace bailar frente a la muerte". No sé, me pareció muy bella, hay algo de aceptar las cosas y vivir el momento, y si nos vamos a morir mejor que nos encuentre siendo felices, amando y bailando. Así que ¿la recomiendo? Por supuesto que sí, creo que vale la pena mirarla y a diferencia de otras películas parecidas, esta deja un final abierto a la interpretación de cada uno.

But the story leaves you thinking a lot and has beautiful phrases. There is one that stuck with me that says, “Love is what makes us dance in the face of death.” I don't know, I thought it was very beautiful. There's something about accepting things and living in the moment, and if we're going to die, it's better to be found happy, loving, and dancing. So, do I recommend it? Of course I do. I think it's worth watching, and unlike other similar films, this one leaves the ending open to interpretation.
