¡Hola amigos! Hoy les vengo a compartir mi reseña acerca de un estreno reciente en Netflix de una película que estaba esperando con ansias. Les estoy hablando de Mi año en Oxford.

Hello, friends! Today I'm here to share my review of a recent Netflix release that I've been eagerly awaiting. I'm talking about My Oxford Year.

En esta historia seguiremos a Anna, una joven estadounidense que desde pequeña tuvo su vida planeada, universidad, un buen trabajo y un año en Oxford para estudiar poesía que es su pasión. Así lo cumple y, antes de empezar en un importante trabajo, va un año a la Universidad de Oxford. Pero sus planes se ven alterados cuando conoce a Jamie y se deja cautivar por su inteligencia y la manera en la que comprende la poesía, y se enamora de Inglaterra y sus historias. Por lo que ahora deberá plantearse si desea continuar con sus viejos planes o empezar de nuevo. Lo único que tiene claro es que lo que más pesa y de lo que más te arrepientes en la vida es de las cosas que no haces.

In this story, we follow Anna, a young American woman whose life has been planned out since childhood: college, a good job, and a year at Oxford to study poetry, which is her passion. She accomplishes all of this, and before starting an important job, she spends a year at Oxford University. But her plans are disrupted when she meets Jamie and is captivated by his intelligence and his understanding of poetry, and she falls in love with England and its history. So now she must decide whether to continue with her old plans or start over. The only thing she is sure of is that what weighs most heavily and what you regret most in life are the things you don't do.

Es una película que esperaba ver y antes de hacerlo leí algunas reseñas por lo que más o menos sabía por donde venía la mano y que no era una simple comedia romántica como lo suponía. Así que la vi preparada para sufrir, pero al final no fue para tanto a mí parecer. No sé si yo estaba dispersa o qué, pero no me conmovió como lo hubiera esperado. Es triste, tiene su cuota dramática, pero creo que no fue de esas que me rompieran el corazón.

It's a movie I was looking forward to seeing, and before doing so, I read some reviews, so I had a rough idea of what to expect and knew it wasn't just a simple romantic comedy as I had assumed. So I went in prepared to suffer, but in the end, it wasn't that bad in my opinion. I don't know if I was distracted or what, but it didn't move me as much as I had expected. It's sad, it has its share of drama, but I don't think it was one of those films that broke my heart.

Es una bonita historia que te deja cautivar, atrae la poesía y la manera de entenderla, para los que sentimos cierta pasión por los libros y el arte seguro que vamos a encontrar magia en la película. Pero tengo que admitir que en algún punto también se me hizo monótona y algo floja. No me mantuvo tan enganchada y tendí a dispersarme mientras la veía, a mí cuando me atrapa de entrada me tiene enganchada a la pantalla casi sin pestañar.

It's a beautiful story that captivates you, drawing you in with its poetry and the way it's told. Those of us who feel a certain passion for books and art are sure to find magic in this film. But I have to admit that at some point I also found it monotonous and somewhat weak. It didn't keep me hooked, and I tended to get distracted while watching it. When a film grabs me right from the start, I'm glued to the screen, hardly blinking.

Aunque no me malinterpreten, fue agradable y bonita de ver. Adoré la fotografía, los paisajes que mostraron, y me gustan los actores protagónicos, pero estoy un poco harta del cliché de la enfermedad y quisiera ver una película donde no se haga presente cada 2x3. O sea, me esperaba algo así, aunque no estaba segura, pero bueno. A veces es un poco un bajón empezar una película y ver que se repiten ciertas fórmulas como estas. Me gustan los clichés, pero de los buenos, no de los malos que te hacen pensar en tragedias y en porqué tiene que suceder de esta manera.

Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable and beautiful to watch. I loved the cinematography, the landscapes they showed, and I like the lead actors, but I'm a little tired of the illness cliché and would like to see a movie where it doesn't come up every five minutes. I mean, I was expecting something like this, although I wasn't sure, but oh well. Sometimes it's a bit of a letdown to start a movie and see certain formulas like these repeated. I like clichés, but the good ones, not the bad ones that make you think about tragedies and why it has to happen this way.

Igual me pareció optimista en cierto punto y me gustó que se respetará la decisión de las personas involucradas, aunque duela o no sea lo que hubiéramos planeado. Supongo que este tipo de películas nos recuerda lo efímera que puede ser la vida y que no hay que quedarse con las ganas de nada, aunque tengamos dudas al principio. Quizá es el camino correcto, pero nunca lo sabremos si no lo tomamos y nos quedamos en el molde. En ese sentido fue reflexiva.

I also found it optimistic in a way, and I liked that the decision of the people involved would be respected, even if it hurts or isn't what we had planned. I suppose this type of film reminds us how fleeting life can be and that we shouldn't be left wanting anything, even if we have doubts at first. Maybe it's the right path, but we'll never know if we don't take it and stay stuck in the mold. In that sense, it was thought-provoking.

En fin, fue una linda película a pesar de que esperaba más de ella. Además, tiene un par de frases de esas que se te quedan grabadas y puede que le encuentren cierto encantó. Así que si les gusta algo de lo que mencioné se la recomiendo.

In short, it was a nice movie, even though I expected more from it. It also has a couple of lines that stick with you, and you might find it charming. So if you like any of the things I mentioned, I recommend it.
