¡Hola amigos! Hoy me paso por acá para recomendarles y traerles la reseña de una película que vi el finde pasado sobre un thriller con bastante suspenso llamado Drop.

La historia gira en torno a Violet, una viuda y madre soltera que decide tener una cita con alguien después de muchos años. Henry es un fotógrafo al que conoce en una aplicación de citas y tras 3 meses de hablar deciden reunirse para cenar en un restaurante muy lujoso. Todo marcha bien, hasta que Violet empieza a recibir mensajes anónimos en su celular que la distraen constantemente y la hacen sentir vigilada porque el sujeto que se los manda la está amenazando con que si no hace todo lo que le dice va a matar a su hijo.
The story revolves around Violet, a widow and single mother who decides to go on a date with someone after many years. Henry is a photographer she meets on a dating app and after 3 months of talking they decide to meet for dinner at a very fancy restaurant. Everything is going well, until Violet starts receiving anonymous messages on her cell phone that constantly distract her and make her feel watched because the guy who sends them to her is threatening her that if she doesn't do everything he says he will kill her son.

Imagínate decidir tener una cita después de muchos años y de pasar por una relación abusiva para que las cosas terminen por salir mal. O no. La verdad es que no le tenía tanta fe a la película, pero estuvo bien, logró mantener mi atención y me transmitió la atmósfera tensa en la que estaba envuelta la protagonista. Esto de tener que actuar como si todo estuviera bien, mientras seguía instrucciones cada vez más arriesgadas sin ser capaz de poder pedirle ayuda a nadie y viendo como la vida de su hijo esta en juego, fue bastante jodido.
Imagine deciding to go on a date after many years and going through an abusive relationship only to have things end up going wrong. Or not. The truth is that I didn't have that much faith in the movie, but it was good, it managed to keep my attention and conveyed the tense atmosphere in which the protagonist was involved. Having to act as if everything was fine, while following increasingly risky instructions without being able to ask anyone for help and seeing how her son's life is at stake, was pretty fucked up.
La película te lleva a un nivel de tensión en la que dudas de todos los que están en ese restaurante, nunca adivine lo que pasaría hasta que sucedió y eso me parece bien porque no la hace predecible, es un punto a favor. Aunque decae un poco al tener detalles que se escapan y no son creíbles para el espectador. Como la paciencia infinita de ese hombre, creo que yo me hubiera ido si recibo semejante desplante viendo que mi cita está más pendiente del celular que de mantener una charla y encima se levanta a cada rato para ir al baño o a quién sabe dónde, él es uno de los buenos.
The film takes you to a level of tension in which you doubt everyone in that restaurant, I never guessed what would happen until it happened and I think that's good because it doesn't make it predictable, it's a plus. Although it falls a little to have details that escape and are not credible to the viewer. Like the infinite patience of that man, I think I would have left if I received such a rebuff seeing that my date is more aware of the cell phone than to keep a chat and on top of that he gets up every so often to go to the bathroom or who knows where, he is one of the good ones.

La trama era buena, pero creo que decayó un poco en su recta final, sentí que empezaron a apurarse para terminarla y hay cosas que comienzan a perder sentido, si es que cabe la posibilidad. Es una pena porque de verdad es una película con potencial para más. De todos modos me gustó bastante, fue agradable de ver y el suspenso que logró transmitirme fue muy bueno. A decir verdad, el final me gustó también, aunque sé que el común de los espectadores quizá prefiera otro cierre en este tipo de películas.
The plot was good, but I think it fell off a bit in its final stretch, I felt that they started to rush to finish it and there are things that begin to lose sense, if that's even possible. It's a shame because it really is a movie with potential for more. Anyway, I liked it a lot, it was pleasant to watch and the suspense it managed to transmit was very good. To tell the truth, I also liked the ending, although I know that the common viewers might prefer another ending in this kind of movies.
Es un muy buen film para mirar una noche tranquila, no es muy largo y te mantiene en vilo intentando descubrir lo que está pasando. Las actuaciones estuvieron acorde a lo esperado, aunque sí pienso que le faltó un poco más de desesperación al asunto para hacerlo más creíble. Pero para mí estuvo todo okey, quitando algunos detalles que hacen decaer un poco la historia en sí. Igualmente se los recomiendo si les llama la atención.
It's a very good film to watch on a quiet night, it's not very long and keeps you on edge trying to figure out what's going on. The performances were in line with expectations, although I do think it lacked a little more desperation to make it more believable. But for me it was all okay, except for some details that make the story itself a little bit down. I still recommend it if it catches your attention.
