Hello dear Ladies of Hive! I hope you are all feeling great. In a new installment of the weekly community quiz, find me here to participate in @saffisara's questions with very thoughtful questions to answer.
How many languages can you speak? And what language would you want to learn more than anything?
I consider that I only know my native language, Spanish. But I always liked languages and learning them is a challenge. The one I'm most interested in mastering is English, being the second language that is most present in my life through music, movies and series, and with the content I consume here. I think the part that I handle best is reading, although I'm a bit of a nerd and it's more practical for me to translate with the help of a translator. Like writing, it's also hard for me, but I'm getting better and better at it without needing a translator to write an answer. I like to practice listening to music and watching productions in their original language, although sometimes I lose the thread and get lost. Undoubtedly, what I find most difficult is speaking it, especially the pronunciation, which is a disaster, not even singing the songs I've listened to a million times, I can't pronounce them well. I guess practice makes perfect, so keep trying.
In college I had reading comprehension classes about academic texts and they taught us reading techniques more than anything else, to understand the academic texts. After so much practice, I was understanding them, but I always had trouble reading books in English, although I feel that it is mostly my head that censors itself. I have to read more in this language to practice.
I also took some Italian and Portuguese classes, I love Italian, but it didn't go very well. So I got discouraged, with Portuguese I did better. And another one that I would be interested in learning is French and while we're at it, some Asian language. Well, as you can see, languages catch my attention, so I should dedicate more time to them. Although, without a doubt, my dream would be to speak fluent English and to be able to understand it in all its forms.
If you could invite any five people, living or dead, to a dinner party, who would they be?
Uh how difficult this question is, from the outset the possibilities are endless, and on top of that I think it should be a table that makes sense, otherwise it's like a fruit salad. There are people in my family that I never got to know because they passed away before I was born and even a lot of my father's family that I don't know because they lost track and we don't even know if they are alive or not. So I think I'll skip this and go to the first thing that comes to mind which I think is the most original to answer this.
I believe in honoring the living in life. So I will choose for my dinner my mom and dad, and my 3 nephews who are the purest thing I have in this life. I regret not including my two brothers, but otherwise I would have a spot left open and I would not be able to include 1 nephew. So that seems perfect to me. A good dinner with my parents and my nephews that will ensure lots of anecdotes from the past and funny moments with the little ones' witticisms.

Well friends, so much for my participation in the questions of the week. I hope you liked it and I invite all of you who read me to participate.

I think most posts I read people mention english as the language they wish to learn the most.
But I understand as it is the most used one in the world.
And I am sure you will learn it well, and you already gotten far by writing in english, reading things in english. And movies and tv shows is a good way to learn as well 😉
And even if you use translate, you learn more everytime you write.
My first language is swedish, but here we learn english from early age in school so I know it well.
But after joining hive and posting, chatting and talking english..
It has improved alot and I even think and dream in english at times 😁 lol
About your dinner choices of family I love how you picked your nephews (I have 7 nephews myself) they are a blessing and a joy.
I bet your nephews would have a Great time with you and I know you mentioned you wished to invite your brother... Well with todays technology he could be there with face time or so... NO rules.
It is your choice 😊 lol
Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful weekend. Cheers 🌷
I think English is one of the most widely used languages, even for people who speak other languages; it's almost a common understanding. Swedish is so interesting! The great thing about Hive is that it connects you with people from all over the world, it's great.
Nephews are a blessing, and you're right! We can video chat with the rest of us, haha. Very clever.
Have a nice weekend 💖
You are so right, with hive we can connect with people all over the world 🤗🩷🤗 HUGS
