📚 Book Review: Protégeme del mundo [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos lectores! Hoy me paso por acá para traerles mi opinión acerca de un poemario que cayó en mis manos. No soy mucho de las poesías, pero cada tanto me animo a leer algún libro del estilo y es por ello que aquí les traigo la reseña acerca de Protégeme del fin del mundo de la autora Paula Kozuch.

Hello, readers! Today I'm here to share my opinion about a poetry collection that fell into my hands. I'm not much of a poetry fan, but every now and then I decide to read a book of this genre, which is why I'm bringing you this review of Protégeme del fin del mundo (Protect Me from the End of the World) by Paula Kozuch.

El poemario está dividido en 3 partes, cada una de ellas está atravesada por diferentes emociones y sentimientos que van desde el amor al desamor, el duelo y la pérdida, la nostalgia que eso supone y el autodesprecio. Además de plantear algunas preguntas existenciales y darle espacio a una mente inquieta que nunca deja de pensar.

The poetry collection is divided into three parts, each of which is permeated by different emotions and feelings ranging from love to heartbreak, grief and loss, the nostalgia that this entails, and self-loathing. In addition to raising some existential questions, it gives space to a restless mind that never stops thinking.

Es un poemario corto, de unas 70 páginas que se leen de un tirón, así como lo empecé lo terminé. Aunque necesite unos días para poder asimilarlo y poner en orden mis ideas. Si bien la pluma de la autora es bastante simple y atrapante, no logré conectar con todos sus poemas. Sí logré empatizar y sentirme interpelada, pero cómo no estaba viviendo lo que ella pasó, no lo experimente de primera mano.

It is a short collection of poems, about 70 pages long, which can be read in one sitting. I started it and finished it in one go, although I needed a few days to digest it and organize my thoughts. Although the author's writing style is quite simple and captivating, I didn't connect with all of her poems. I did empathize and feel challenged, but since I wasn't living what she went through, I didn't experience it firsthand.

Creo que la poesía tiene eso de contar experiencias personales con las que uno puede conectar porque también lo tránsito o lo está haciendo, o puede que no sea el caso, como me pasó a mí. Sin embargo, disfruté mucho de leerlo. Hay un poema que fue mi favorito y con el que conecté de una manera bastante genuina porque siento que es una experiencia universal. El poema en cuestión se llama Quiero ser tu chica favorita y habla de eso, de querer ser la elegida entre un montón de otras chicas porque sos única y especial. Es bastante idealista, pero me gustó mucho, sentí que me habló directamente y me atravesó. Eso es lo que me gusta de leer un poemario. Seguro que hay uno que te va a llegar al corazón y por eso vale la pena leerlos.

I think poetry has that ability to recount personal experiences that one can relate to because they have gone through or are going through the same thing, or maybe not, as was the case for me. However, I really enjoyed reading it. There is one poem that was my favorite and that I connected with in a very genuine way because I feel it is a universal experience. The poem in question is called “I Want to Be Your Favorite Girl” and it talks about that, about wanting to be the chosen one among a bunch of other girls because you are unique and special. It's quite idealistic, but I really liked it, I felt like it spoke directly to me and touched me deeply. That's what I like about reading poetry. There's bound to be one that will touch your heart, and that's why it's worth reading them.

Este fue el segundo poemario que leí en lo que va del año. No me hizo conectar tanto como el que leí a principios de año, pero estuvo muy bien de igual manera. La autora logra engancharte y transmitirte lo qué está pasando por su cabeza y por su corazón. Y esto es esencial para un libro del género. Seguro que más de uno puede lograr sentirse identificado con sus palabras, así que está más que recomendado por mí parte.

This was the second poetry collection I read so far this year. It didn't connect with me as much as the one I read at the beginning of the year, but it was still very good. The author manages to hook you and convey what is going through her mind and heart. And this is essential for a book of this genre. I'm sure more than one reader will be able to identify with her words, so I highly recommend it.
