It does change the way you see people, doesn't it? It becomes a lonely world very quickly once you're fully awake in that sense. You begin to realize how many people are unable or unwilling to see the extent to which they're being manipulated. I find myself trying to compartmentalize that aspect of people and attempt to enjoy the rest of their personalities but sometimes they make it impossible. I drive a Tesla and you wouldn't believe the amount of my friends who continually try to goad me into arguments about Musk because of the car I own.
I believe, wholeheartedly, in that quote, Idolizing a politician is like believing the stripper really likes you. Politics are a game of deception and half-truths and those rise to the top are the masters of it.
Life is so much more than politics and passive-aggressive (and sometimes full-on aggressive) arguing.
