In Every Day, A Bit Of Grace (Original Poetry)

avatar
(Edited)

In every day
there is
a bit of grace,
when life
is lived deeply,
in broad strokes
with passion,
temperance,
and lungs
filled
with the
fresh air
of truth,

The time will
come for sleep
soon enough,
until then,
I will try
my best to enjoy
this little dream,

As thoughts
buzz like
bees in
a sunbeam,
this world
can only be
as lovely
as our minds.

Poetry should move us, it should change us, it should glitch our brains, shift our moods to another frequency. Poetry should evoke feelings of melancholy, whimsy, it should remind us what it feels like to be in love, or cause us to think about something in a completely different way. I view poetry, and all art really, as a temporary and fragile bridge between our world and a more pure and refined one. This is a world we could bring into creation if enough of us believed in it. This book is ephemera, destined to end up forgotten, lingering on some dusty shelf or tucked away in a dark attic. Yet the words, they will live on in memory. I hope these words become a part of you, bubble up into your memory when you least expect them to and make you feel a little more alive.

Most of us have experienced a moment of perfect peace at least once in our lives. In these moments we lose ourselves and feel connected to everything. I call these mindful moments. Words can’t describe how complete they make us feel.

These moments are usually fragile, evaporating in seconds. What if there was a way to train your mind to experience more of them? It’s deceptively easy and requires nothing more than a subtle shift in mindset. My new book, Mindful Moments, will teach you to be much more content despite the chaos and imperfect circumstances continuing to unfold around you. Upgrade your life experience today for only $15.99 on Amazon.com.

I still believe there’s beauty in the world but it’s all a matter of perspective.

I think that this world is mostly lovely. There is love in it. There are living beings (either humans or animals) to love. And they can also love you. Mostly the animals. I experienced it. But what the human race is turning the physical life (especially of the most of the people) into is another story. I also experienced that too. So I understand your disappointment in this world.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Well said, @xplosive. I agree about what you say about animals. They, for the most part, are much more pure than us. The love we received from our beagle Amstel is sorely missed since losing him in January. I'm sure you feel the same way about your hawk. I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

I loved your poem. It is a beautiful reminder to live each day to the fullest, with passion, temperance, and truth. I especially appreciate the line "this world can only be as lovely as our minds." It is so true that our thoughts and beliefs shape our reality. When we focus on the positive, we can find beauty in even the most difficult situations.

Thank you for sharing your poem with us. It has inspired me to live my life with more grace and gratitude.

We need to embrace each day with grace, live passionately and truthfully, cherish the present moment with the dear ones and acknowledge the impact of positive thoughts on shaping the beauty of our world. Otherwise we are doomed as a specie.

Beyond the vicissitudes we may have, life is worth living. To live 100%. So that when we close our eyes for good, we are not left with the guilt of not having lived enough. Like the great poem of Kavafi (Cavafi) Ithaca: Do not fear the Lestrigons nor the Cyclopes
nor the choleric Poseidon,
such beings you will never find on your way,
if your thinking is elevated, if the emotion that touches your spirit
is the emotion that touches your spirit and your body.
Neither the Lestrygonians nor the Cyclopes
nor the wild Poseidon will you find,
if you do not carry them within your soul.

May this journey called life be full of unforgettable moments! A hug for you, Eric.

Those are wise words! So many pursue a "safe" life but not many realize all they give up in that kind of pursuit.

I have been so incredibly lucky to experience what I have in my, soon-to-be, 52 years on Earth. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend Nancy. Thanks for the comment!

The older I get the more I realize how much the world changes based on the lens you see it with. Unfortunately the media figured this out a long, long time ago.

History has always been written by the victors. But once radio and television became owned by global syndicates, it definitely became much worse.

About 15 years ago, I dated a woman who worked as an archivist for one of Canada's largest media outlets. Quite frequently, she would be asked to archive two opposing articles using the same video feed. For simplicity, let's say that one was strongly conservative leaning and the other was strongly liberal leaning.

This means that two audio recordings were made, two speeches were written for the narrator.

At a minimum, 1 producer, 1 writer, 1 narrator and 1 archivist needed to be involved in this "capturing of the truth" - but noone ever blows the whistle. It just pays the bills and you don't want to upset the unions.

Anytime the news needs to pull up a video from the past, they enter the keywords and usually are returned 2 feeds. One Left leaning and the other right. Then, the producer decides which of the 2 slants they'd like to use that day.

These archives are shared by print media, radio and television. So there's really no way to avoid it.

</rant>

What I meant to say was .... I 100% agree with you that it's very unfortunate that the media figured this out a very long time ago. 🤓

Man should live his life in exactly the same way because at any time man does not know that he will ever leave this world, so man should spend every day happily and live fully within each day and fulfill his every desire should be fulfilled so that he does not feel sad that he did not do this in his life. You should always treat others well so that even when you are gone, they remember you. You lived each day as if it were your last.
