Como algunos saben entre mis estudios académicos, soy Técnico en Mantenimiento de Micros, no es la especialidad de electrónica como tal pero si ayuda en cuanto a conocimiento básico para el resto de equipos electrónicos o electrodomésticos. Con los cambios que he tenido viviendo de un lugar a otro, me falta adquirir nuevamente mis herramientas, para hacer estas cosas es bueno tener a mano al menos un tester y cautín con estaño, sin embargo, podemos hacer una limpieza básica sino requiere de reparaciones técnicas avanzadas. Entre las competencias del mantenimiento de micros está el manteniente preventivo, correctivo y reparaciones si son necesarias.
En este caso, tengo dos teclados marca Casio de los años 90's, he dejado de tocarlos desde hace más de cinco años producto del estrés, trabajo y estilo de vida agobiante, además de la fata de privacidad, me gusta tocar el teclado a solas, muchas veces con audífonos y si alguien me va a escuchar prefiero no me vea pues me pongo nerviosa. Si tengo estudios de teoría y solfeo ademas de lectura de partituras, honestamente soy floja para ponerme a descifrar cada nota, solo se me son más fáciles los tiempos y acordes, por lo que prefiero tocar "de oído" como dicen... No niego que siempre extrañe tocarlos, era una práctica que me encantaba, después de años sin tocar, lo intenté y me di cuenta que con mi problema motriz, me he vuelto bastante torpe y olvidadiza, me frustré y no lo encendí más.
Hace poco quise encenderlos pero me di cuenta que el adaptador de ambos teclados se extravió en los viajes, he comprado tres de ellos con las características de mis teclados y pues no encienden ambos. Quedé con la duda, pues donde vivía la humedad hacía estragos en el integrado de mis equipos, sospeché que lo mismo había pasado con mis teclados, tras meses frustrantes, encontré el valor de desarmarlos para revisión y ver su estado. Normalmente una vez al año siempre los limpiaba por dentro... he perdido la cuenta desde cuanto fue la última vez pero... imagino que pasan de diez años.
Hoy te enseño cómo hacerlo de una forma muy básica ya que no tengo los materiales y esto es a modo de revisión para saber lo que haré después.

As some of you know, among my academic studies, I am a Computer Maintenance Technician. It is not a specialisation in electronics as such, but it does help in terms of basic knowledge for other electronic equipment or appliances. With all the changes I've had to make, moving from one place to another, I need to get my tools back. To do these things, it's good to have at least a tester and a soldering iron with tin on hand. However, we can do basic cleaning if it doesn't require advanced technical repairs. Microcomputer maintenance skills include preventive and corrective maintenance and repairs if necessary.
In this case, I have two Casio keyboards from the 90s. I stopped playing them more than five years ago due to stress, work, and an overwhelming lifestyle, as well as a lack of privacy. I like to play the keyboard alone, often with headphones, and if someone is going to listen to me, I prefer not to be seen because it makes me nervous. I have studied music theory and solfège, as well as how to read sheet music, but honestly, I am too lazy to decipher every note. I find it easier to play by ear, as they say... I can't deny that I always miss playing them. It was something I loved to do. After years without playing, I tried it and realised that with my motor skills problem, I've become quite clumsy and forgetful. I got frustrated and didn't turn it on again.
Recently, I wanted to turn them on, but I realised that the adapters for both keyboards had been lost during my travels. I bought three of them with the same specifications as my keyboards, but neither of them turn on. I was left with a question mark, because where I lived, humidity wreaked havoc on my integrated equipment, and I suspected that the same thing had happened to my keyboards. After months of frustration, I found the courage to take them apart to check them and see what condition they were in. I used to clean them inside once a year... I've lost count of when I last did it, but... I imagine it's been more than ten years.
Today I'll show you how to do it in a very basic way, as I don't have the materials and this is just a review to see what I'll do next.

Para este mantenimiento, necesitaremos:
Destornillador de estrías, pala de diverso alcance.
Secador de cabello o aspiradora.
Pinceles, brochas, paño humedo.
Silicón, alcohol, algodón, hisopos.
Si el mantenimiento es a modo de verificar alguna falla es recomendable tener a mano:
Probador de corriente
Tester, cautín estaño y la grasa.

For this maintenance, we will need:
Slotted screwdriver, various sizes.
Hair dryer or vacuum cleaner.
Paintbrushes, brushes, damp cloth.
Silicone, alcohol, cotton wool, cotton buds.
If the maintenance is to check for faults, it is advisable to have the following to hand:
Current tester
Tester, soldering iron and grease.

Para los lugares pequeños podemos usar hisopos un poco húmedos con alcohol, limpiamos por fuera el polvo con una brocha y pinceles, luego pasamos un paño húmedo por las teclas una por una con cuidado. Este teclado no se limpia hace mucho, pero mucho.

For small areas, we can use swabs slightly dampened with alcohol, clean the dust off the outside with a brush and paintbrushes, then carefully wipe the keys one by one with a damp cloth. This keyboard has not been cleaned for a very long time.

Volteamos el teclado para dejarlo por la parte de atrás para limpiarlo, teniendo cuidado de no presionar las teclas, puedes colocar algo debajo para que las teclas no sufran de presión o peso innecesario que puedan dañarlas.
Limpiamos los orificios donde están los tornillos (que son muchos) usamos un pincel para ello y sacamos el polvo que contienen. Tenemos los tornillos que fijan la parte frontal del teclado que deja descubierto el integrado y tenemos la parte cubierta de metal donde está el mini integrado para el teclado.
Luego de limpiar con un paño húmedo, comenzamos a destornillar manteniendo un orden.

Turn the keyboard over so that it is lying on its back to clean it, taking care not to press the keys. You can place something underneath so that the keys are not subjected to unnecessary pressure or weight that could damage them.
Clean the holes where the screws are (there are many) using a brush to remove any dust. Remove the screws that secure the front of the keyboard, exposing the integrated circuit, and you will see the metal cover where the mini integrated circuit for the keyboard is located.
After cleaning with a damp cloth, begin unscrewing the screws in order.

Estoy impresionada, pensé que iba a estar en muy mal estado como una impresora que compre, que no duró un mes y se dañó, cuando la abrí la humedad del ambiente le pudrió el integrado. Sin embargo al teclado, en lo que respecta al área de integrado de las teclas, se encuentra en buen estado y aún con un nido de barro antiguo que hizo alguna avispa, no llegó a tocar el integrado, lo removí, limpié y en la parte donde descansan las teclas, increíblemente conserva muy bien la lubricación, por lo cual solo me limité a limpiar el polvo con un pincel. Al menos hasta aquí no hay nada anormal, sin embargo, no es el motivo de la falla para no encender.

I'm impressed. I thought it would be in very poor condition, like a printer I bought that didn't last a month and broke down. When I opened it, the humidity in the environment had rotted the integrated circuit. However, the keyboard, in terms of the integrated area of the keys, is in good condition and even with an old mud nest made by a wasp, it did not touch the integrated circuit. I removed it, cleaned it and, incredibly, the part where the keys rest is still well lubricated, so I just cleaned the dust with a brush. At least so far, there is nothing abnormal, but this is not the reason why it won't turn on.

En la segunda tapa que es de plástico, hay que ser cautelosos porque la corneta está pegada y los cables son muy cortos, lo cual hay que abrir poco a poco con mucho cuidado. Esta es la parte que más me asusta pues, aquí puede estar la posible falla.
Analizo si hay algún daño en la placa del integrado, buscando soldadura fría, humedad, desprendimiento, cortes, asombrosamente solo hay poco polvo para el tiempo que tiene sin limpiarlo. No hay óxido ni soldadura en mal estado, sin embargo, hay que revisar del otro lado.
Limpiamos el polvo con la brocha y una aspiradora o secadora de cabello en aire frío si tienes.
Retiramos los tornillos de la placa entonces.

With the second cover, which is made of plastic, you have to be careful because the horn is glued on and the cables are very short, so you have to open it slowly and very carefully. This is the part that scares me the most because this is where the possible fault may be.
I check for any damage to the integrated circuit board, looking for cold solder, moisture, detachment, cuts, and surprisingly, there is very little dust for how long it has been without cleaning. There is no rust or damaged solder, but we still need to check the other side.
We clean the dust with a brush and a vacuum cleaner or hairdryer on a cold setting, if you have one.
We then remove the screws from the board.

Al voltear la placa con mucho cuidado, revisamos cada capacitor, si está suelto, si está abombado, si ha cambiado su coloración, si tuvieras al alcance un tester podrías revisar si cada uno tiene el voltaje correcto, sin embargo a simple vista todo parece bien, salvo esos tres capacitores que estaban pegados y no recuerdo que estuvieran así antes, sin embargo no presentan rasgos de que explotaron o abombaron, además se mantiene limpia toda la zona.
Toca revisar la toma de corriente si está suelta, si está en mal estado y no presenta novedad.
Colocamos el integrado nuevamente como va y lo fijamos con sus tornillos.
Es el momento de revisar los pulsadores, estos estaban un poco oxidados sucios pero no presentan signos de estar sulfatados u oxidados, tan solo se limpia con cuidado con el pincel y si es necesario una pequeña lima.
Al ver que el teclado no muestra signos de daño por humedad que era lo que me temía o algún capacitor en mal estado, me temo que pueden ser otras causas:
Compré adaptadores que no son apropiados para él, este Casio usa adaptadores del tipo AD-5 9V 850mA por mucho que en las características dicen que sí. Habrá que encontrar uno compatible.
Si la falla persiste, será necesario una revisión técnica más profunda con testers y demá sequípos de electrónica.
Otra opción posible es en mi teoría de descarte:
- El teclado tiene opción de encendido por baterías AA, en este caso usa 6, habrá que comprar y probar puesto que un adaptador para este teclado está al rededor de los 70 - 80$ si es marca Casio, los genéricos no le han servido.
En mi intento fui a la tienda a comprar las baterías, ya que en la revisión, verifiqué que los puertos estuvieran en buen estado, sin embargo, al llegar a la tienda, los habían baterías recargables y el costo por las seis era de 30$. No me queda más que esperar reunir el suficiente para comprar la marca original aunque en tiempos pasados, podía usar adaptadores universales sin problema, los de hoy no han podido encenderlo. Me quedo con la duda hasta nuevo aviso, sin embargo hemos aprendido un poco de la parte técnica y cómo limpiarlos de una forma no tan invasiva evitando errores y daños que tengamos que lamentar si no tenemos un conocimiento técnico apropiado para ello.

Carefully turning the board over, we checked each capacitor to see if it was loose, bulging, or discoloured. If you had a tester handy, you could check if each one had the correct voltage. However, at first glance, everything seems fine, except for those three capacitors that were stuck together, which I don't remember being that way before. However, they show no signs of having exploded or bulged, and the entire area remains clean.
It is time to check the power socket to see if it is loose or in poor condition, but there is nothing unusual.
We put the integrated circuit back in place and secure it with its screws.
Now it's time to check the buttons. They were a little rusty and dirty, but there are no signs of sulphation or oxidation. Just clean them carefully with a brush and, if necessary, a small file.
Seeing that the keyboard shows no signs of moisture damage, which is what I feared, or any capacitors in poor condition, I'm afraid there may be other causes:
-I bought adapters that are not suitable for it. This Casio uses AD-5 9V 850mA adapters, even though the specifications say otherwise. I will have to find a compatible one.
-If the fault persists, a more thorough technical inspection with testers and other electronic equipment will be necessary.
Another possible option is my theory of elimination:
-The keyboard has the option of being powered by AA batteries. In this case, it uses six, so I will have to buy and test them, since an adapter for this keyboard costs around £70-80 if it is a Casio brand; generic ones have not worked.
In my attempt, I went to the shop to buy the batteries, since during the inspection, I verified that the ports were in good condition. However, when I arrived at the shop, they had rechargeable batteries and the cost for the six was £30. I have no choice but to wait until I have enough money to buy the original brand, although in the past, I could use universal adapters without any problems, but today's adapters have not been able to turn it on. I am left with doubts until further notice, but we have learned a little about the technical side and how to clean them in a non-invasive way, avoiding mistakes and damage that we would regret if we did not have the appropriate technical knowledge to do so.
