Creo que hoy voy a abrir un debate aquí. Porque las cosas a veces nos salen bien otras no tanto.
Hace días hice un llavero de un dragón con silicón caliente que me quedó espectacular. Luego hice uno navideño con porcelanicrón, siendo mi primera vez con ese material me quedó muy bonito, hoy quise usar el otro molde pero usando silicón caliente. No estoy segura si fue el molde que no está muy bien contorneado pero hubo detalles de detalles.
Hay una diferencia abismal entre cada pieza lo que me dejó muy pensativa. Qué creen ustedes ¿Será el molde, será que no esparcí bien el silicón caliente? Estoy segura que distribuí muy bien el silicón pero el grosor de la pieza no es el mismo y quise confirmar en mi anterior publicación. Si, la otra pieza es más gruesa hasta la considero más resistente y más prolija, se puede pintar mejor en ese material también, en cambio el silicón caliente pierde la forma más aun si es delgada la capa.

I think I'm going to start a discussion here today. Because sometimes things turn out well for us, and other times not so much.
A few days ago, I made a dragon keychain out of hot silicone that turned out spectacular. Then I made a Christmas one out of porcelain clay. It was my first time using that material, and it turned out very nice. Today I wanted to use the other mold but with hot silicone. I'm not sure if it was the mold that wasn't very well contoured, but there were details of details.
There is a huge difference between each piece, which left me very thoughtful. What do you think? Could it be the mold? Could it be that I didn't spread the hot silicone well? I'm sure I distributed the silicone very well, but the thickness of the piece is not the same, and I wanted to confirm this in my previous post. Yes, the other piece is thicker. I even consider it more resistant and neater. It can also be painted better on that material, whereas the hot silicone loses its shape even more if the layer is thin.

Paso a paso / Step by Step

Toma unas gotitas de aceite para bebés y distribuye en el molde, esto es para evitar que el silicón se pegue.
Con la pistola de silicón bien caliente, distribuye una capa generosa por todo el molde, este proceso debe ser rápido.
Deja secar bien, al secar retira la pieza del molde con mucho cuidado.
Si la pieza queda con imperfecciones recorta con la tijera y con el fuego del encendedor ayuda a que tome forma redondeada los bordes, no necesitas tocar y tampoco lo dejes mucho tiempo porque la pieza se derrite.
Pinta la base de la pieza por ambos lados y deja secar.

Take a few drops of baby oil and spread it around the mold to prevent the silicone from sticking.
With the silicone gun heated up, spread a generous layer over the entire mold. This process must be done quickly.
Allow to dry thoroughly, then carefully remove the piece from the mold.
If the piece has imperfections, trim it with scissors and use a lighter to help round the edges. Do not touch it, and do not leave it too long, as the piece will melt.
Paint the base of the piece on both sides and let it dry.

¿Escuchaste alguna vez eso de "confía en el proceso"? No me estaba gustando mucho pero seguí adelante confiando que quedaría mejor. A final de cuentas es un experimento.
Luego de dar la capa base de pintura y la dejaras secar, aplica envejecedor marrón o en mi caso usé envejecedor cerezo para darle aspecto de madera. Aplica uniforme en toda la pieza y antes que seque retira el exceso de los relieves con un paño.

Have you ever heard the phrase "trust the process"? I wasn't liking it very much, but I kept going, trusting that it would turn out better. At the end of the day, it's an experiment.
After applying the base coat of paint and letting it dry, apply brown distressing agent or, in my case, I used cherry distressing agent to give it a wood look. Apply evenly over the entire piece and, before it dries, remove the excess from the raised areas with a cloth.

Las orillas las decoré con bordado líquido, así como los detalles del árbol de navidad, luego le dí el color verde y unos detalles con bordado líquido rojo escarchado. Dejé secar.
No se ve tan mal de hecho logré que se vea como si no es silicón parece madera rústica. Solo lo podrías distinguir al tacto

I decorated the edges with liquid embroidery, as well as the details of the Christmas tree, then I colored it green and added some details with frosty red liquid embroidery. I let it dry.
It doesn't look too bad; in fact, I managed to make it look like it's not silicone, but rustic wood. You can only tell by touch.

Retiro la aguja de la pieza, y coloco el primer aro seguido de la cadena con el aro para llavero, aplico brillo para sellar la pintura y dejo secar.
¿Qué opinas? A pesar que la pieza es delgada, el efecto rústico madera quedó logrado, solo hubiera desea que la pieza fuera más gruesa y que la pintura se adhiera mejor.
Para este caso, al menos con este molde, prefiero trabajar con porcelanicrón... Quizá más adelante le dé otra oportunidad.

I remove the needle from the piece, and attach the first ring followed by the chain with the keyring ring. I apply gloss to seal the paint and leave it to dry.
What do you think? Although the piece is thin, the rustic wood effect has been achieved. I just wish the piece were thicker and the paint adhered better.
In this case, at least with this mold, I prefer to work with porcelain clay... Maybe I'll give it another try later.

Es una buena técnica trabajar con silicón, no sabía que se utilizaban moldes para sacar el diseño, la vez que trabajé con silicón fue mirando la referencia, se aprende algo nuevo,gracias por compartir.
Me gustan ambas, jejej aunque nunca he trabajado con ninguna, uso silicon como pegamento pero me has dado ideas. super
Me gusta que el silicón caliente nos brinde otra posibilidad de uso. No he probado ninguna de las dos, pero está genial que nos hayas contado que existen esas opciones
