It's Pozole Time!

Now that there is the slightest hint of fall in the air, I'm craving winter-ish meals. So, I'm making some pozole. The air in the house smells delicious. It'll be a few hours until it is ready to be eaten. Something this good is worth the wait.

Here is a description of pozole according to Wikipedia:

I've never heard of nor tasted green pozole. Interesting to note that the one I have been making all this time has been red pozole. Makes sense as the spices used in my version are the standard menudo spices.

Of course now that I know green pozole exists, I'll have to gather ingredients for my next pozole cooking adventure.

Pozole is a new one for me. Mind you we get quite a variety of food here. We have Indian and Chinese food outlets in our village.

We dress it up in our bowl with cilantro, onion, and lime. Eat it with a rolled up corn tortilla (dipped in broth and eaten with a spoonful of pozole). Some folks will put in sliced cabbage for added crispiness or diced jalapeño to really spice things up.

Green mole?! Geez, it looks like I have a whole new slew of recipes to try out. Should make things interesting to shake up the same old same old.

My husband makes a good Pozole that everyone loves, he makes red, too. We'll have to look into the green version.
