for the most part the shoreline on both sides of Lysefjord is dramatically steep mountains. there are only a few breaks where folks have managed to live in the past and much later even construct a road to access it from land. this is Songesand on the north side of the fjord. in it's hey day there were 36 people living here, mostly children. they eked out a living farming and fishing. now there are 4 permanent residents but quite a few tourists visit the scenic place
