please join hindavi and i on our walk to Lillevik Beach
on the far eastern end of the beach there's a nice rocky point for fishing or just relaxing. the water that side is deeper than the rest of the beach
the beach itself is very shallow and safe so in the summer it is popular with families with small children.
here the tide is out and many of the rocks bedded in the sand are exposed
it is a natural beach with no road access. driftwood tends to wash ashore and that is one of the reasons i like to walk here with my wife
lots of nice driftwood. these photos were taken in May but a couple of days ago we returned there only to find a tractor had moved all the driftwood off the beach and placed it in piles at the edge of the forest. it's still there but not nearly as attractive when piled up like that
the beach faces toward the small city of Larvik which has a small but locally important port
there re several trails leading to and from the beach. this is my favorite. it can be a little swampy so the locals have made a few boardwalks
spring wildflowers cover much of the ground, here white anemones sometimes called windflowers
there's a wide variety of trees and flora. in the days of wooden ships many trees were taken for shipbuilding
this oak tree has a curious looking wound in the bark. it must have lost a large branch and the bark never grew to cover it
and here we are almost back to the parking lot after a wonderful spring walk
