phone photography contest 58: frog on a bicycle wheel

earlier this year we were visiting my wife's brother's family in Goa. the two daughters have grown and married but the only son is younger. he is still in school and lives at home where he parks his bicycle close to the front door.

after dark i stepped out for a moment and noticed a tree frog sitting on the bicycle wheel. i went back in and got my phone hoping the frog had not been scared away. if i think the subject will disappear anytime soon i usually take my first shot at a safe distance. that way i have at least one shot.

the frog did not seem bothered by my presence so i came a little closer. those suction cup toes are really cool. and those eyes are awesome they are common in nature but less so in urban areas, occasionally we find one on our bathroom window or mirror,

not everybody likes them but i think they are great fun and i'm always glad to see them around, especially if they are feeding on mosquitoes. they are inevitably posed ready to jump at any moment and you can't tell by looking at them where they are likely to target.

at this point i was so close that he could have even jumped and landed on me or my phone. in theory i could have zoomed in but it is not practical and fiddling with the phone may have frightened the adorable creature away.

these frogs really are amazing. it's checking me out as much as i am doing the same of him. wouldn't it be incredible if there was some way of communicating with each other

what would you say if you could talk with this guy and what would it say to us? anyway i didn't want to disturb it any more so i left with the thought that i was most fortunate to meet such a wonderful being and wished it well in life.
