entry reflections 230: yellow water lilies
at the southern end of Hallevannet lake there is a small dam. the stream after the dam was the source of power to run the old Halle Mill which is now a museum, now there's a small hydroelectric plant. it's surprising how little flow is necessary to produce electricity.
but we're here for the reflections not a discussion of energy production. luckily, this shallow end of the lake happened to be close to mirror still with some help from all the lily pads on the surface. these are yellow water lilies, Nuphar lutea and are very fragrant, with a lovely smell of mangoes. and that brilliant blue is not the color of the water it is the reflection of the clear blue sky above.
the roots, leaves, stalks and seeds all can be eaten but sadly they do not taste like the mango fragrance of the flower but that does not prevent us from enjoying the bright flowers reflecting in the water.
