in the smaller towns and villages in India the electric power disappears fairly often. this reflection shot of a second story window in town here gives a pretty clear indication of why that happens. the outages vary in length but rarely for more than a few hours. for us who don't work here it's more of a nuisance than a real problem. in fact, the times when the power disappears are often the most peaceful and quiet. but businesses here are either somewhat or completely dependent on electricity to function and for them it can amount to considerable losses. however since the system has never been particularly reliable, power outages have always been a factor that they must take into consideration and be prepared for. it's never a big surprise when they occur and it's wise to be on good terms with the repairmen
