entry daily prompt: water pollution
my 5 minute timer is set so here goes nothing:
i remember well back in 1969 when Lake Erie caught on fire. the water was so polluted with flammable industrial pollutants on the surface and agricultural chemicals in the water that the huge lake was totally dead. it was not the first time the lake had burned but this time caused a lot of public uproar and a campaign was launched to clean up the lake. after all it is a major stopping ground for millions of migratory birds and since the book Silent Spring was published there was a lot awareness of the importance of birds, fish and clean water of course. swimming was totally prohibited. these days the lake still suffers from agricultural runoff but the industrial pollution is far less. it is possible to swim in the lake now but there must be other preferable choices nearby
ok finished. as usual spelling and typos have been corrected but none of the wording has been changed. it is what it is
