My Thoughts on Digital 'Ownership' within these technologies

I've been reading a lot about creators, ownership of digital assets, and the results of Generative A.I. in the creator space. It's all I've seen in mainstream platforms and while thinking about ownership a thought came across my head. For every Transaction/Purchase, there is a receipt.

When purchasing an item at a store the merchant and the customer have an agreement of transfer and a copy of the transaction is created at the point of sale. It's clear who owns what now as the receipt given contains details and information about the transaction.

With Web3/Blockchain, The Creators can sell their digital wares on the market place using a smart contract that contain the 'point of sale' along with the terms that a potential buyer has to agree to before making the transaction. The transaction is broadcasted throughout the entire Blockchain for everybody to witness and confirm that the digital wares are now under the 'Ownership' of another persons account. Simple enough!(If I understand it correctly)

With 'Generative A.I.' there is little to no promises of 'Ownership' between the 'Generative A.I.' and the prompted generation/er. There is currently no way to acquire a 'receipt' or 'proof of generation' that is unique for the prompter and the input/'Generative A.I.'. Anybody can recreate that output if they manage to stumble across the correct wording used to prompt the generation.

With the first two examples, there is a human element throughout the entire process that is critical for every step with the finalization being a Receipt that confirms the transaction of the items ownership has shifted from one entity/individual to another.

Generative A.I. doesn't (yet) provide any documents or authority over a generation that can be tied to an individuals account/username. Having a document, a receipt, or even a way of seeing the transaction that occurred, seems to be important in distinguishing Ownership/rights over an asset and possibly a generation.

These are just my thoughts on the matter. Always check with the appropriate professionals on the subject and learn what the current situation is.

Thank you for Reading!

I listened to a copyright attorney on a webinar this week and there are big differences in what rights a human being has, a human being using AI tech, and AI creations overall. Some countries allow broader ownership than others.

The reality is that we are still in the early days of living in the age of AI. There are pending lawsuits which will determine ownership and hence the potential for future AI receipts.

Hopefully the laws put into place act as a foundation of how we can utilize Generative A.I. instead of a hinderance to the technology available in fear of what it might be capable of.
